7 The rest of the week passed pleasantly. Helen used the Fiat most days to get to the Literary Festival. Her low spirits had been expelled by her new role and she was back to her old self, much to Day’s relief. Today, however, as she was not required at the Festival, she had gone for a quick swim at Agia Anna and Day had spent many hours reading an academic journal. It completely exhausted him and eventually he retired for a nap. He did not even hear Helen return. He was woken after a couple of hours of deep sleep by the sound of his mobile ringing.
