Chapter 3 – Rude punk

1174 Words
Her day had been hectic lately. School had been stressful and taking over the part-time job from 4-7 had not been an easy one. Thank God she and her friend were working at the same café, or else only God knows what she would have done. “Hey, gorgeous.” Chloe called out. “Hmm?” “Don't you think you are spacing out too much? We don't want Catherine reducing our pay, do we?” “I'm just so tired.” “I'm here for you, pokie.” Catherine–the owner of the café–was known to be the type to always find fault in everything and the type that cared a lot about money. Once she notices you don't take your job seriously–coming late to work, spacing out at work, and gisting--she'll threaten you with cutting your salary into half. “We've got customers” Chloe replied back, and faced Olivia “Just get yourself together, baby girl. I'll attend to them, okay?” “Hmm.” Olivia watched as Chloe took the orders. Her friend was the only one that cares alot about her, aside from her mom. She wouldn't trade her friend for something else. From where she was standing she could see a table of three casually dressed guys and Chloe taking their others. One with blonde hair, one with brown hair and the one with black hair was looking at her with a stone struck face but with a hint of disbelief. She averted her gaze. ‘Why is he staring at my face like that? And why does he look so familiar?’ Olivia thought. “Hey, Olivia…Olivia?” Chloe snapped her finger in front of Olivia’s face. “Uhn…Yeah?” “I know right? Don't you feel like one of those guys are familiar?” “Yeah? But I don't know why he looks so familiar.” “Which one?” Chloe asked to confirm. “The one with black hair?” “Yes!” Chloe exclaimed, “He's that ‘rude’ handsome ‘punk’ you had a staring contest with three nights ago! I knew he looked familiar.” “What?!” Olivia almost screamed, her eyes almost popping out of their sockets. “Are you blind, gorgeous? That you couldn't even recognise him? And don't tell me those other two are his friends? They've got to be kidding the hell out of me.” “You mean that rude punk? That's him?” What on earth?! ‘How could I have forgotten?’ Olivia thought “Wait. Don't tell me you didn't take a closer look at him? The only thing you knew was that he's ‘handsome’ and not ‘this handsome’? Oh, you were really down on winning the contest, weren't you? That you couldn't even the god he is? Uhn.” “And what is he doing here?” Olivia said in a cool voice but laced with anger. “What do you think he's doing here? What do customers come here to do? Sing? Don't tell me you still feel annoyed?” “Of course, I am annoyed.” “I understand. But you guys are strangers. You should let it go.” “I bet you both are having a great time chatting, aren't you? You really don't care about your money, do you?” Catherine said from behind them. Olivia and Chloe both jolted and faced her. When did she arrive? They didn't see her come in. “Miss Catherine we were about to attend to the customers.” Olivia immediately said “Yes.” Chloe agreed. “You sure about that? You better.” Catherine said annoyingly. Catherine came back to the café because she left her bank card. She turned to leave, then added, “You see those boys over there? Make sure you attend to them very well. Is that clear?” “Yes,ma'am.” They said in unison Then Catherine left. “Attend to them well? Of course I will gladly do so.” Chloe grinned. “Erase that thing.” Olivia said irritably. Understanding what she meant, Chloe used her hand to clean her face, but still ended up grinning again. “Why do you think so?” “Because it irks me.” “Hmm…or because I'm…” “Get to work Chloe.” Olivia interrupted her, using her hand to shut her mouth and stop whatever was going to come out next from her friend's mouth. Meanwhile, “Don't you think we should go skating tomorrow after school? Since tomorrow is Saturday.” “Yeah, dude, we should. It's been a while.” “Don't you think, Sebastian?...Sebastian” Chris called out. “What is he staring at this time?” Lucas said as they both traced his line of sight “Uh-ohhhh…Damn. Who are those ladies?” “Were you blind when she came here, dummy?” “I was on my phone. Which one of them? I didn't take a look at her face.” “The one on jeans. But the other girl looks familiar. Don't you think?” Lucas scratched his head in an attempt to remember where they saw her. “The fierce girl!” Chris almost shot from his seat. “Yes, she's the one. Wow…I didn't know she was this…beautiful! No wonder someone was staring at her like he just saw a ghost.” “I knew it, Sebastian is no match for…” As realisation dawned on Lucas, he clasped his hand on his mouth. “You think?” This time Sebastian turned to face them, a mischievous smile plastered on his face. ‘F*** me’ Lucas thought, he wasn't ready to see his wrath again. Why couldn't his mouth be at peace with this guy? “I didn't mean it that way. I just…” “Just tell him what he's afraid to hear, Lucas. ‘You are no match for the girl’. We know you are fierce, but look at her Sebastian, take a look at her, she's more fierce. You couldn't even utter a word on that day than… What did he say again?” “ ‘Why don't you take your drunk friend here home' ” Lucas mimicked. “Yeah, that.” “Guess you both haven't learnt your lessons yet. Have you?” Sebastian said beneath his breath. They were mocking him. Yes, he knew that fir sure and he really needed to show this people what he was. “ I bet you can't make her even fall for you. She's not like the other girls .” Chris smirked playfully and sipped his coffee. “ What are you doing?” Lucas asked, he isn't as daring as Chris. Sebastian and Chris both stared at each other. “You think?” He smirked evilly. “No, I know.” “You guys are out of your f***ing mind.” Lucas admitted. “Good.” Sebastian took a sip of his coffee and added, “ I take the bet.”
