Chapter 12

1904 Words
—Third POV— Chance and Victoria broke through the forest into the waterfall clearing and saw two wolves nearly ducking each other with a barely conscious wolf off to the side of them. Chance looked over to see Freight standing over Ritae and his heckles raised as Don paced in his mind.      “Are we supposed to be okay with our friends here f*****g our baby sister Chance?”     “You were aware of the conversation I had with alpha Linx so it shouldn’t come as a surprise should it. I will agree though that it is a little startling to experience it first hand. I just feel protective of her since she is our sister, yeah?”     “Gotcha but it still is kinda disturbing.”     Chance chuckled at Don before cutting the link between them. He looked over at Victoria and admired her lithe body pushing her butt up in the air as she bent over to study the rogue. The smell coming off of him was somewhat familiar but he had never before laid eyes upon the wolf before. The stench was quite foul. From beginning to learn the beta responsibilities I heard that the worse the rogue’s intentions, the fouler their stench. Some rogues actually had a pleasant smell if they meant no harm but didn’t wish to be part of a pack due to personal reasons.  Take the lovely donut shop owner Ms. Mabel, she is a rogue but she doesn’t hold any malicious will against our pack and actually enjoyed our occasional patronage at her shop but she doesn’t wish to be part of a pack.  Which is too bad since she would make an even better breakfast than Chance probably.      Just as Chance was about to warn Victoria away from the conked out intruder, the rogue leaps at Victoria who must have been anticipating the move d since she jumped into the air over his body and popped him square between the shoulders on a pressure point. The rogue landed and let out a yelp before turning into human form, most likely unwillingly.      Don purred at her graceful form and let loose the images he had of f*****g her until she passed out. Chance shook the thoughts away before he pounded on her. He looked over to his sister and best friend stepping away from each other but with very reluctant expressions.     He clapped his hands at them, “Alright alright enough of that. Sis you know it’s dangerous for you to go off in your own without someone around. There is only a few more days until you have your ceremony and while we weren’t anticipating having any trouble it looks like we will have to tighten security around the borders.” Ritae huffed at him in indigence before looking at the ground. He then turned to Freight. “And you welcome home.”  Freight included his head before trotting off towards Axel’s clothes and the donuts which weren’t in the best of shape after dropping them. He hid behind a tree and shifted putting his clothes back on before jogging back over to join the group.      Victoria was asking Ritae as he got closer what happened with Rosertina. Since they were pack he opened himself up to the link so he could join the conversation.     “She’s asleep. She has been since she gave me control to go running and we wound up here. She has been much more tired recently but that is partly due to receiving little by little her healer powers and also the past few nights have been pretty late. But you would know all about that wouldn’t you Victoria?”     Victoria’s face turned scarlet as she rubbed the back of her head. “Sorry about that. I am dead when you guys get in so I don’t have a time frame for when you go to sleep.”     “Don’t worry about it. It’s fine. She is now just catching up on much needed sleep before she returns to the land of the living.”    Axel was puzzled. “Why has she been having late nights? What is she doing?”    Ritae turned her beautiful wolf eyes to him. She looked as if she was giving him a “are-you-for-real” expression. “Mother Nature has been having longer sessions with her so that she could take a break for the next few days and prepare for her induction. I’m glad too cause she honestly needs the rest.”    She turned her attention back to Victoria and Chance and saw he had a distant expression on his face. He then walked over to the prince male and knocked him out with a swift strike to the side of his temple. He then picked him up and sling him over his shoulder before turning to the group.      “Let’s get this rogue to the pack dungeon and get Ritae back to Rose’s room so that they can rest some more. I’m sure the pack will be surprised to see you Axel. They will want to know how your time was with your uncle. Your parents don’t know your here yet either. I didn’t tell them that you had arrived.”     Axel smiled and went over to his friend and gave him a bro hug which was a little awkward with the boost over his shoulder. When they patted axel and Chance looked over to we Ritae was to find her gone.      “Ritae where did you go?” Asked Chance.      “I’m headed back to the house so that when Rose wakes up she will be in bed. I don’t wash her to be too disoriented and think that she will be fine if she is in a comfortable surrounding.”     “Got it. We will see you in a few hours then.”     He cut the link before turning to the other two with him.      “Let’s get this bastard to the alpha. He will want to know what happened.”     Axel and Victoria nodded at him before jogging through the woods towards home. Once they reached the clearing the alpha was waiting for them with his arms crossed over his chest. The Luna was not far behind.     “What the hell I’d going on I demand to...” the Luna’s voice echoed across the clearing until she saw Axel come out of the tree line with nothing except the clothes on his person and a box donuts.     “Oh my. Is it really you Axel? Are you home?” Tears gathered in her eyes as both her and the alpha starred at their son in disbelief. Linx uncrossed his arms and started for Axel. It was a classic movie picture moment of two people coming together. They slowly walked towards each other before running at one another and hugging like their lives depended on it. Alpha Linx has tears in his eyes and the Luna was heaving air while she was crying she was so surprised. Axel looked over his dad’s shoulder and motioned for his mother to come join their hug. She ran over to them and used so much force the trio fell to the ground still hugging each other. The alpha laughed and got up before pulling up His mate and son.      Linx turned to the gathering pack members who were curious about what was happening by the forest line. He grabbed Axel’s hand and raised like a referee declaring a boxing champion.      His voice echoed across the clearing over the whole community. “My son has returned!”     A great roar of congratulations and applause broke out over the whole community. Wolves howled in greeting and excitement. Everyone who wasn’t there in the direct vicinity ran over to greet the alpha’s son. Pretty soon the whole community was crowding around trying to get to Axel and give him a personal greeting.    “Alright alright. Let’s give him some room. WE don’t want to scare him off when he just got home now so we?”  The crows laughed as the alpha smiled and grabbed Axel’s shoulder. “It’s good to see you soon. I’m so glad your home, and a changed man at that.”    Tears brimmed in Axel’s eyes and he wiped them away. “Thanks dad.”    Chance cleared his throat when there was a lull in the crowd. Everyone heard it and turned to him. “Not to be rude or anything but this rogue is f*****g heavy and I would really like to not have to carry his smelly ass anymore.” Two pack warriors came up and put silver cuffs on the intruder before grabbing his arms and leading him, or well dragging him through the crowd towards the dungeons that were located below the pack house.      “Everyone please disperse and go about your day and duties. WE will questioning the rogue and don’t know when we will be done but I doubt that he will give us answers soon.” Alpha Linx stated. The pack all left at there own pace to pick up whatever activity they left to greet Axel and welcome him home. The only people left were him, the Luna, Victoria, Chance, Axel, Trevor, Trevor’s dad, and a few pack warriors and trackers.     Linx turned to the trackers and issues for them to find any trace of other rogues or unknown wolves coming onto their territory without them knowing. The trackers took off after bowing and then shifted taking off in different directions to cover more ground quicker. The rest of the warriors he dismissed before turning to the rest of the group.      He looked around before his eyebrows furrowed. “Where is Rosertina?”     Chance was the one that replied. “She was taking by Ritae back to the house to get more rest. Ever since she allowed four Ritae to take over she has been asleep it would seem.”    Linx nodded before leaving the group down to the dungeons. The two warriors that took him down to the dungeons had managed to rouse him and chained him to the wall with silver cuffs around his wrists and ankles. His eyes were off. There was a gleeful expression on his face, like he b knew something that they didn’t and it pissed the group off. The rogue looked over at Victoria and cat called at her. Before anyone could blink Chance‘s fist made contact with the rogue’s face causing the young man to spit blood out onto the floor in front of Linx.      Getting straight to the point Linx crossed his arms and stared at him before using his most intimidating voice that caused everyone to flinch, even the smirk to flicker in the rogue’s face. “Who are you?”    The rogue sneered at him before answering with a confident and quiet voice, “My name is Hemlock.”
