Chapter 5; The Hoods It’s a warm morning, Cade and Oric are walking back from the quay where they were after fresh cod from the market. The streets are quieter than normal, almost like the towns is on edge. The townsfolk, who always say little to him anyway, appear to be giving Oric a wider berth than usual he thinks. The fishmonger did tell them the half the town were frantically searching for two youngsters who had disappeared. He reckoned they had just started courting two nights back, but no one’s seen them since. A set of bloody boots had been found he told them, a girl’s by all accounts, both sets of parents were blaming the other child, and no one held out much hope.
