I heaved out a sigh, and glanced at Lena who was passing glares at me.
Mother was once again in her void face..that satisfied me nevertheless.
She only put that expression on when she has many things going in her head and doesn't want to give out the reaction the other side desired... she's so scheming!
I smiled triumphantly before lacing my fingers over Miguel's.
His well curved cherry lips births a smile..
My heart was busy kicking my chest up and then,down....
Gracious!
I have never been this nervous.
I didn't know if that smile was his goodwill or the other.
My eyes grew large when I was pushed to his chest, swiftly.
Damn,that was so fast!
My heart began to move in an abnormal rate.
I could almost feel it in my mouth.
A loud gasps erupted from the audience.
The back of his fingers grazed my left ear then he bent a little to whisper,"challenge accepted, doll." in my ears.
Okay,that was so unsettling.
His voice sounded coarse,and attracting.
I pray I haven't done passed myself.
"Uhm! So,are we going to take the vows?"the priest cleared his throat, bringing everyone's attention back to the stage.
"I do"Miguel responded to him
"Well,I haven't even read the vows yet?"the priest raised up the book a little in the air, pulling his eyes up in the glasses.
"Is that important again?
I am willing to be with her, now, always and forever."his eyes went down to mine.
"You agree?"the word rolled out of his mouth, and i gaped at him for seconds before regaining myself.
I nodded rather too quickly. "I do too. I am willing." I said to the priest.
"Bless the Lord. We shall not waste any more time out of the time that has already been wasted.
I hereby pronounce you husband and wife."
With his hand still wrapped around my waist,we turn to face the crowd but we're stopped by the priest's cry.
"Wait! You haven't exchanged rings!"
Oh, right!
Damn.
The ring bearer,a small boy dressed in white steps forward.
My stomach churned in anxiety.
Those rings were gotten by Daniel.
Although, this is a dealy-marriage,I wouldn't want to use the rings he got.
"Not needed,"Miguel responded,as if noticing my reluctancy.
"...because our hearts already rings for each other."he added.
I hiccups lowly, feeling my nose flared up in red color.
Oooshhhhh...I now know why ladies crush so much on this man.
The crowd laughed, and I could feel the hatred radiating around Lena.
"Well, you may now kiss the bride then?"the priest uttered in a quizzical way.
Was that an option?
Newly-wed should kiss, right?
"Pervert! Kiss the man you don't know?!" my second growled at me in my head.
I batted my lashes, fastly.
Not as if I wanted that.
"We might end up making out right here. Is that okay with you?" Miguel drawled out, with a smirk at the priest.
The priest's eyes blinked fastly before he shuts the book in his hand, releasing a snort.
The crowd oohed while my face heated up.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome the lastest couple in town!"
The people stood up, clapping.
Their huge applause almost shaking up the whole building.
Abigail only stood up after a while, seeing that only Lena and she were the ones still sitting.
She claps,zero-heartedly while Lena just remain seated, not caring.
"You're mine, now. I've listened to your request once. You will have to do that in ten folds for me."Miguel remarked breathily into my ears.
This scent of lavender filled my nostrils.
His nose grazed over mine as his lips pecks me on my right cheek.
...
I remained quiet from where I sat in the car.
I was clinging to edge, that if the door were to get opened, I'd fall off.
He doesn't seem to have anything to say too.
I mean, what were we supposed to say?
The atmosphere was armored with a warm evening sun.
We didn't fulfilled all wedding programmes, else it'd be night before we get home.
I looked in his direction, and I caught him staring at me, blankly.
Him now under the soft amber light in the car makes him look more...more...good!
My heart missed a beat, and I cleared my throat a little, looking away before drumming my fingers on the car's surface.
"You guys can just pretend I'm not here,"the driver suddenly uttered, making me look up at him.
He stared at us through the rearview mirror before chuckling maniacally.
He took his eyes back to the road.
It seems he's pretty close to Miguel.
"Why would we do that?"Miguel grunt out.
"Well, what newlyweds usually do?"the driver drawled out, shrugging.
What?
I scratched the bottom of my chin, gently, and shyly look out of the window.
I don't even think we could be termed as that.
"Well, what do you think about the idea?"Miguel's voice travels into my ears, and I suddenly felt numb.
I turned and found him staring at me.
"Me?"I literally pointed at myself,unsure.
"Oh yes? You're the wife after all."he replied.
His words laced with something I couldn't fathom.
Maybe he was mocking me?
"Oh,"i chuckled before nodding.
"I see...but giving our status,I don't think it'd be okay to do what newlyweds usually do..in here.." that took every ounce of my courage to say.
I breathed out, heavily as Miguel's eyes danced around my face,as if searching for a hidden treasure.
"Hm. Must be easy for you to announce our wedding, without consulting the other party, given our status.."he mouthed, his eyes free of emotions.
I hiccuped,before blinking my eyes.
Just the topic I was trying to avoid.
Not as if I could avoid it forever, but just for that moment.
"Pierre,get us wedding rings..."he voiced out,before I could give him a reply.
His eyes lingers on me,thinking only what the Holy Mary knows.
"...pretty ones...and special."he added.
Oh,how I wish I can listen to people's thoughts.
I gulped a thick saliva down my throat.
"It's not..."
"Oh,miss,no. You're Miguel Winslow's bride,you do not deserve mediocrity.
I'd have prepared a gift for you, but this cold man here didn't give me heads up about the ceremony.
He does his things without warnings.
I am happy, nevertheless.. that he is now married.
I only imagined a day like this two hundred years later, when he'd have grown grass on his head" The driver expounded and i couldn't help the chuckle.
"You're laughing?"I felt Miguel's icy stare stab me on my skin.
