3: Planned Wedding Disaster
The wedding was here.
The mansion was buzzing. Workers were everywhere, doing what needed to be done. Caterers, photographers, the press…everyone was busy.
“Hey Soph, the makeup artist is here,” Stephanie said, going into her room with Allyson, the makeup artist behind her.
“Alright,” Sophie said, getting up from the couch and sitting at her dresser.
After her makeup, Sophie was helped into her wedding dress. It was an elegant two piece ballroom dress. It had a floor length overskirt which zipped up at her waist but could be detached to reveal a satin mini dress beneath.
Instead of your regular happy bride, Sophie's expression was sharp and cold. She looked like she could destroy anyone who decides to cross her path that morning.
Stephanie sent everyone out of the room to talk to Sophie privately.
Just then, guests started arriving at the Veyre Estate. Elite members of the high class society. People who were hard to reach without a proper connection. They all started filing into the ballroom of the Estate.
Mr. and Mrs. Veyre had gone to greet all the guests that had arrived.
“Are you ready?” Stephanie asked.
“Ready to destroy him? Of course, I am,” Sophie responded.
Zion Veyre peeked his head into the room, then entered. Dressed in a fine tuxedo, he looked handsome and capable or so Stephanie thought.
Stephanie Michaels had a huge crush on Zion but of course, never told him.
Sophie chuckled at the look on Stephanie’s face. Haha
“Security tailed him the whole week,” Zion Veyre said.
“Same thing they found. Partying, using drugs. Same story.”
But amidst all of that, something special popped up.
Zion took out his phone from his inner pocket and showed the girls a picture.
It was of a woman and a daughter but with them was Ethan Sanders.
“Who is she?” Sophie asked.
“That bloody i***t's hidden baby mama and his child,” he said.
“What?” Stephanie said bewildered.
“He really is a scumbag,” he continued.
Sophie was even more determined to destroy him now. She didn't know what to think. She was in awe.
Asrael Veyre also came into the room. Sensing the atmosphere, he looked at the picture.
“Who are they?” he asked.
“Ethan's child and baby mama,” Stephanie replied.
“He is really insane, isn't he,” Asrael said.
“Let me add this to the video I just made. His reputation will be destroyed forever,” he said.
Asrael Veyre sent the photos to himself and went away.
“Keep calm, sis,” he said over his shoulder.
“He's going to regret this.”
Zion also left.
The ballroom of the Veyre Estate shone so bright. The morning sunlight streaming in, warming the whole place up. The colors, the decorations…they were all top notch and very beautiful and delicate.
It was time for the groom to make his entrance.
Ethan Sanders walked up to the prepared altar, confidently and so smug, Stephanie wished she could slap it right out of him.
Nobody expected the storm that was coming.
“It's time for you, Miss,” Mary the maid told her.
Sophie Veyre stepped forward and walked down the aisle. Her presence was breathtaking and composed. Nearly like a queen walking to her throne. Her beauty captured whispers around her as she walked.
“She's going to make a fine bride.”
“She's too good for him.”
“He's too low for her. I wonder why she picked him.”
“They don't love each other anyway, she could've done better.”
Ethan Sanders smirked at her, thinking he had won. She gave him the faintest chilling smile back as she stood next to him at the altar.
The officiant begins the ceremony.
When it was time for the vows, Ethan went first, saying the most polished, insincere and calculated words ever.
Then it was Sophie's turn.
She took a deep breath, looked at the crowd of people and looked at Ethan again.
“How many of you here know who Ethan Sanders here really is?” she asked.
“We all know he's newly rich and most of you also think he's way below our standard.”
The audience gasps, whispers getting louder.
The officiant freezes, confused and somewhat nervous.
Ethan leaning in on Sophie questioned her.
“What are you doing? You're ruining the wedding,” he said desperately.
Sophie moved an inch away from him.
She signalled to Asrael Veyre. Suddenly a projector lit up, showing all the evidence they had gathered over the past week.
He had set it up to be a slideshow. Showing all the photos from Club Devonte and the bedroom scenes of Mia Turique and Ella Sams.
By now the audience were talking and the place became a bit noisy. Reporters typing frantically on their laptops.
“And that's not all,” Sophie said.
She pressed the remote Asrael had given her to show the video of Ethan, Joel Whitmore and Luke Carlin.
“And for the Grande Finale,” Sophie said smiling. The projector showed the photo of Ethan's baby mama and his child.
The crowd erupted in chaos and chatter.
“Lies, all lies,” Ethan screamed.
His mother who was in the front row seat got up and went to the altar and slapped Ethan.
“If you were going to marry her, you shouldn't have gotten caught,” she said and darted for the door.
But it had been locked and security had surrounded the whole room.
“Ethan here is a cheat, a lowlife, a baby daddy and a junkie…he smuggles hard drugs and sells. He was high on drugs just a few days ago,” she said looking straight at him.
He was bewildered and raised his hand to hit Sophie.
“Don't you dare!” Christopher Veyre said as he walked to his daughter.
Ethan, frightened, put his hand down.
“Head of NYPD, he's all yours now,” Sophie's dad gestured for Mr. White to take him away.
He came and handcuffed him and led him into his police car and drove off.
“We are sorry for the inconvenience this caused and to the reporters here, copies of the photos and videos will be given to you and make sure this story is seen on major headlines across the country,” Mr. Veyre said.
