The morning after Alexander’s visit, Aria thought she was moving through a fog. Every glance at her phone, every shadow in the apartment, reminded her that her life had changed in an instant. She couldn’t ignore the warning any longer—the one from the unknown caller, the one that had made her pulse race: “We see everything. Don’t be alone.”
Her privacy was shattered again that evening. A soft, deliberate knock came at her door. She froze, heart hammering, and then—relief and anxiety rolled over her in equal measure—Alexander stepped inside without waiting for an invitation.
“They’ve found a new lead,” he said, his voice low but urgent. “We can’t stay here. We need to move.”
“Move? Where?” she asked, panic rising in her
“Somewhere safe. But it won’t be easy,” he replied. His eyes softened for a brief moment. “I won’t let anything happen to you, Aria. That’s a promise.”
She hesitated, fear twisting inside her. But the thought of staying alone and unprotected made her decision simple. “Okay,” she whispered. “I trust you.”
They left quickly, moving through side streets and shadowy alleys. The city outside felt transformed—darker and almost alive, as if unseen eyes were watching their every step. Aria’s nerves were on edge, but the proximity of Alexander’s presence offered a strange, comforting reassurance.
Finally, they reached an unremarkable building hidden from view. Alexander led her inside, where the light was dim. and flickered against the walls. “Here, you’ll be safe for now,” he said.
