The following days passed in a blur for Aria. Work, home, and the constant thoughts of Alexander’s world left little room for normalcy.
Then, unexpectedly, he appeared at her apartment again, unannounced.
“I wanted to check on you,” he said, leaning casually against the doorway, but his eyes were serious. “After everything I showed you, I must ensure you’re safe.”
Aria raised an eyebrow. “You don’t know the meaning of personal space, do you?”
He smirked but softened. “Not when it comes to you.”
Her pulse quickened. There was a tension in the room, unspoken and electric. She wanted to push him away, yet a part of her longed for his closeness.
Before she could say anything, a sudden noise outside startled both of them. Alexander moved instinctively, shielding her as he peered out the window. A shadow darted across the street, and Aria’s stomach tightened.
“You see?” he whispered, looking back at her. “Danger is closer than you think. That’s why I can’t let you be alone.”
Aria felt a mix of fear and intrigue. Every time she tried to separate herself from him, Alexander’s presence pulled her back. And deep down, she knew she was no longer just a bystander in his world—she was part of it.
