Chapter five:Crossing Path

305 Words
The next morning, Aria woke to the sound of her phone buzzing continuously. Groaning, she fumbled to answer it. “Good morning,” Alexander’s deep voice came through, calm and commanding as ever. “I hope I’m not disturbing you.” Aria sat up, rubbing her eyes. “You called me… why? It’s early.” “I wanted to check on you,” he replied. “And to make sure you didn’t regret letting me into your life yesterday.” Her lips twitched in a small, reluctant smile. “I don’t regret it… yet.” There was a pause, then he said, “Good. Because I plan to make sure you never have to face danger alone again.” Aria frowned, curiosity mixing with caution. “Danger? What do you mean?” “I can’t explain everything right now,” Alexander said, “but there are things in my life. That could affect you. I’ll be honest, Aria. I don’t want you caught in the storm unprepared.” Her heart skipped. She wanted to ask more, but somehow, she felt the weight of his words, the seriousness behind them. She realized that saving him was only the first step now, she was stepping into a world she didn’t fully understand. Later that day, Aria returned to her routine, but the image of Alexander his dark eyes, the confident smile, and the mix of safety and danger he embodied continued to intrude on her thoughts. She couldn’t shake the feeling that her life had irrevocably changed By evening, she found herself staring out the window, wondering what tomorrow would bring. Somewhere, Alexander was making plans and taking action, and she knew their paths would cross again. Aria felt a mix of fear and anticipation, realizing that when they met again, nothing would ever be the same.
