The next morning, Aria attempted to forget the events of the previous night, but Alexander's presence lingered like an inescapable shadow.
Her phone buzzed. A message from him:
Meet me at the café on 5th Street. We need to talk.
Her stomach tightened. "What now?" she whispered to herself. She had questions, doubts, and a nagging fear that getting involved with him would complicate her life irreparably—but curiosity won.
At the café, Alexander was already there, seated at a corner table, his posture relaxed but his eyes scanning the room like he expected trouble.
“You made it,” he said, his voice calm but firm. “Good.”
Aria sat down, fidgeting with her mug. “I don’t understand... why is all of this happening? Why are you so involved in my life?”
He leaned back and ran a hand through his damp hair. “I can’t ignore it, Aria. You saved my life, and I don’t take that lightly. But there’s more to it—my life isn’t ordinary. There are people, situations, and things that could put you in danger if I don’t prepare you.
Aria felt a chill, not from the rain but from the weight of his words. “Danger?”
“Yes,” he said quietly. “And it’s closer than you think. But I promise… I won’t let anything happen to you. Not if I can stop it.”
Her heart raced. She didn’t know whether to feel reassured or terrified. But one thing was certain: her life had irrevocably changed, and Alexander had become a part of it.
