~Isabella POV~
I woke up in confusion. I looked around the bed and saw Gia lying there, snoring. It didn’t take long before I remembered the events of the night. Victor had found out about Nicolai and he left me. I remember crying in the courtyard at the realization that Victor was not coming back. Gia had helped me back to my room and I cried myself to sleep. It looked like she had also fallen asleep. I heard a gentle knock on my door, and I quickly jumped up out of bed to get it. I was hoping it was Victor. Maybe he had a change of heart. As I eagerly opened the door, my hopes were dashed. It was Caden. He gave me a half smile and, though he didn’t want to let on that he knew, his face and lack of eye contact betrayed him.
