Three things wake me up. The first is Chris’ arm across my throat which prevents me from breathing normally. The second: a bell ringing. The third mixes very unpleasantly with the second: it is this damn radio alarm clock! It’s when I wonder why I could have programmed it on this beautiful Sunday morning that the picnic with Julie comes to mind. I push Chris’ arm away. I turn off the damn alarm clock and pull myself out of bed with the elegance of a bear that just came out of hibernation. With my eyes open, I move like an automaton towards the front door, while zigzagging to avoid the mess that my dear landlord has dedicated himself to developing. He looks like a hurricane, even when he’s only looking for his car keys. When Jamie’s face appears, I have a moment of emptiness in my mind.
