Episode Six
Charlotte's POV
After bidding my family an unexpected goodbye, we entered the car and motioned for the airport.
Sitting beside him, I felt the urge to look into his eyes and get a clear picture of him, I resisted at first but the urge kept calling.
I turned and my eyes caught up with his. I turned back immediately.
“Wait, was he thinking about me too?”, I thought and smiled
"Ma’am?”, Mr. Hampton called out
“Yes sir”, I answered, he was a middle aged man, I wonder why he was just a driver
“Well, it wouldn’t be appropriate to call me sir next time”, he said
“Uhmm.. I .. I'm .. you deserve some respect”, I responded, Dirk looked at me and rolled his eyes
"I'm okay with calling me just my name ma'am", Mr. Hampton said
"Uhmm.. I ... cool", I replied, short of words though.
“Ma’am, Mrs. Bennett said I should tell you more about your husband”, he said and I got a cold almost immediately
“Husband?”, Dirk asked and my ears went off, his deep voice made me wanna scream that I’m blessed but on the other hand I wasn’t really blessed. “And by husband, you are referring to who?”, he asked still rolling his eyes, they looked like they were going to fall out
"You master, you just got married today”, he replied
"I never got married, the whole Bennett family got married today not me, okay?”, he said
“Yes master", Mr. Hampton replied
“Excuse me young woman”, he said
"Woman?, me?, you talking to me??”, I asked not sure of what to say
“Yeah, you”, he said and turned to me. “We didn’t get married today, you got married to the Bennett family. I love someone else and I’m gonna get married to her as soon as the damn contract ends. Just saying so you could know. Don’t ever fall in love with me. You’re never gonna be my type”, he concluded
"Don’t ever fall in love with me? You’re never gonna be my type? He just tried to humiliate me?, Charlie say something", I thought to myself.
"You’re not my type either”, I replied trying to pay back but guess he was not flinched
“Guess that’s even”, he said and smiled and I got captivated again
"Hey!, Charlie, What the f**k is wrong with you?”, I asked myself , “He doesn’t love you, don’t you get it?”, my inner mind told me “And don’t forget Brandon”, I thought and sigh.
"Don't get distracted Charlie", I mumbled
He seemed to hear, "What?", he asked and gave me a long stare, I was forced to look at myself to be sure my clothes weren't ripped, "What?", he asked again and I only shook my head.
After the long ride, we got to the airport, there is this magnificent sight of the early sunrise beaming over the horizon. Quietly I walk through the sliding glass doors of the International Airport, reminiscing my past trip home. All of the wonderful faces strolling to their respective gates, thus creating a light breeze with every passing body.
The warm sun shining through the glass windows as if to brighten the lives of those within the glass panes. Now, sitting at my gate awaiting my plane, I close my eyes and listen closely to the world around me. Birds chirping up above, the chuckling of amused children, and the faint harmony of men and women conversing in the terminals. I open my eyes to now see what my mind was conjuring up from the tranquility of sounds.
After hours on the plane, we finally got to new York. I stepped out and onto the stairway down, and was immediately met with the coldness of the New York City air. It was a whole new environment with the temperature, buildings and fogginess.
We walked into the hallway, lots of people waiting there.
"Hey!, Dirk", Someone called, we turned and it was Dom, "Hello Charlie", he greeted
"Hi", that was all I could say
"Come on", he said and ushered us to the black Vintage SUV waiting for us
