"Thanks for today, Cameron would have probably killed me if you didn't step in" he smiles leaning against the wall, yeah he was probably right.
"It's okay, it just takes a while to get used to how he likes things" I smile as I hear Cameron start to shout things from his bedroom "but it's totally worth it in the end!" I shout directing it more to Cameron's room, Brendon just laughs telling me goodnight making his way to his own room.
I stand by my door for a while looking around the house, it's crazy to me that I get to live with my best friends in our own house. Even with all the craziness I can just tell it's gonna be amazing, with that thought I closed the door heading back to bed.
I just finished my morning run and was getting ready for work, I wanted to have the week off so I could unpack the rest of the house, but the boss man wasn't having any of it. I walk down the stairs for the kitchen when shouting erupted, as I walk in Belle and Brendon facing off.
"What the heck is going on" I ask placing my things on the side causing the shouting to stop, Danny was sat on the side eating crisps while shaking his head.
"This i***t thought it would be a good idea to switch the water off in the house!" Belle shouts pointing towards Brendon who had tools in his hands, by the looks of it he might be trying to fix something.
"I've turned it off for a few hours while I fix some of the broken water pipes, you were the one that was complaining about them yesterday!" Brendon exclaims back at Belle who looked like she was about to hit him with something, Danny was still sat on the counter eating crisps watching this all unfold.
"It's only gonna be for a few hours Belle, it'll be worth the wait in the end" I smile trying to calm them all down before I left for 5 hours, Brendon thanks me turning to Belle who shook her head.
"You know Cam was right, why'd you even move in here, you're just Danny's annoying older brother?" she spits towards him pushing him out the way leaving the kitchen, Danny who finished his crisps, jumps off the counter patting his brother on the back.
"You're really making enemies with everyone in this house" he laughs while Brendon rolls his eyes "see you after work Paige, I'll try to keep the house in one piece, no promises for him though" he smiles looking back at Brendon before walking off down the hall, probably to go see if there's any more drama he can insert himself in.
"Yeah do you have to leave today? You're the one person who's stopped people attacking me since we got here" Brendon smiles jokily, it sounded like he was joking but I don't think he was finding it funny.
"Sorry, boss man says I've got to work, just stay out of everyone's way today you'll be fine" I smile patting his shoulder, before walking down the hall and out the front door for work.
As I walk down the stairs of the porch I see a silver car at the end of our path, the two guys sat in it quickly look away when they see me. In seconds the car was speeding down the road away from the house, I stand there confused for a second but realise, I'll be late for work and I leave.
Walking up the steps after work, I felt like my legs were going to fall off, I mean working as a waitress can be hard with all the walking, but today the place was packed. As I walk in the door Brendon was walking down the stairs with a smile on his face, well he isn't dead which is a good thing.
"I see you didn't get hurt by anyone while I was gone" I smile closing the front door behind me, he laughs shaking his head following me into the kitchen.
"I took your advice and stayed out of everyone's way, the water pipes are done, so that's one thing to check off the list" he smiles placing his tools town, while opening the fridge pulling a drink out.
"Well I've got a day off tomorrow, I can help you cross more things off that list" I smile taking a seat at the table which wasn't here when I left, I wonder what else the others have done since I was at work?
"That would actually help" he smiles as the I hear Belle angrily make her way down the stairs, Brendon just shrugs his shoulders sitting beside me.
"Where is he?" She shouts walking into the kitchen looking Brendon dead in the eye "I just got home from buying a whole new wardrobe, what do I find? The hole in my roof is still dripping water! I thought you were gonna fix it" she says crossing her arms towards Brendon, it seemed like he did a lot today and she was just out shopping.
"I was kind of busy, fixing the water pipes you were complaining about" Brendon starts to defend himself, but she's quick to shut him down.
"We're letting you live here rent free as you don't have a job, I was told you would fix up the house for us, but you're not doing a very good job" she shouts at him, I knew I couldn't just sit here and let her shout at him for absolutely no reason.
"And what were you doing all day Belle? Like you said you were out shopping! Brendon has been working all day fixing the pipes for us! Give the man a break he's only one person!" I shout standing up looking towards her, she seems taken back by the fact I spoke up "I've just got back from work to hear all this! Tomorrow I'm helping Brendon with some of the work, the first thing we'll do is fix the roof until then, back off" I say in a harsh voice, I've never spoke to her in that way before but it was horrible the way she was talking down to Brendon.
She just nods apologising making her way back upstairs with her tail between her legs, I shake my head taking a seat back looking towards Brendon.
"Thanks for that" he smiles taking a sip from his drink, I shrug my shoulders as Danny walks through the door dripping with sweat.
"I took a leaf out of your book Paige, I went for a run" he says out of breath pulling a drink out, that's great he could be my new running buddy! "worst mistake of my life" he continues, before making his way out the kitchen and slowly up the stairs, I guess not!
Brendon and I just stare at each other laughing.
Chapter 3
A few hours pass, Danny ordered everyone pizza so we were all sat on boxes in the sitting room. Belle was the last to walk in sending me a smile as she went, she took her box seat beside me starting to eat her pizza.
"Can you believe it?" Danny asks randomly, making everyone stare at him confused "we're all in our new home together, in school we always said how this would happen and how amazing it would be, I can't believe it's actually happened" he continues looking at all of us, I mean it was true, we'd always say it but I didn't know if I fully believed it would happen.
"Yes, I crunched the numbers and it never made sense, I'm glad I never told you because that would have made me wrong, and I'm never wrong" Cam chimes in taking a bite from his pizza, I laugh a little as something crashing outside causing us all to jump and look at one another.
"Okay, before we all jump to conclusions, it was probably the wind knocking something over in the back" I say knowing full well what was running around these guys minds, as the sentence left my mouth the crashing noise returns but sounds closer.
"Can I start jumping to conclusions now?" Danny asks over at me, I roll my eyes slowly getting up to walk towards the window, but an arm stops me.
"No Paige, you two girls wait here while we go check" Brendon says while pulling me back to where I was sitting, Danny runs into the kitchen walking back out with the frying pan from last night, him and that frying pan!
"Come on Cam" Brendon’s nudges him as they begin to walk out but Cam doesn't get up, I mean he technically is "one of the guys" but he isn't at the same time.
"You two go, he can protect us" I say holding onto Cam's hand knowing he really didn't want to go outside, Brendon just nods telling Danny to follow him, soon it was just us three left in the room.
Belle gets off her box seat and sits on mine holding my arm scared, no one spoke for what felt like forever as we waited for the guys to return.
"What are you doing out here, you're on our property!" We hear Brendon shout after a few minutes of silence, we hear faint talking but it wasn't close enough for us to fully understand.
"I don't care! Leave now before I call the police!" Brendon responds rather angry, we hear movement around the house and a car door opening, I quickly get up running to the front window just as the car was pulling off.
The same car as before! That cannot be a coincidence, the back door soon opens where Brendon and Danny having an annoyed discussion with each other enter. I finally look away from the window going back into the room, Danny throws his beloved frying pan to the side as I walk in.
"So find anything?" I ask crossing my arms looking over at the guys, I knew from the conversation I heard that they found a person.
"Yeah, some i***t saying he was exploring, I told him either he slings his hook or I'll call the police" Brendon explains sitting down on his box once again, Brendon did sound annoyed when he was talking to them.
"But what I thought was strange was he was in a full suit, why would you explore in an expensive suit?" Danny asks leaning us against the wall, this is getting weirder and weirder as time is going on.
"You know what it's getting late, why don't we all get some sleep before we freak each other out" I suggest moving into the middle of the room "we can talk more about it in the morning, we'll lock all the doors and windows if it makes you feel better" I say mainly looking over at Belle who still looked pretty shaken up, she nods rising to her feet going over to lock all the windows.
"I still don't understand" Brendon says to himself, as everyone else goes around the house locking everything "I'll put a strong padlock on the back gates tomorrow, see him try to get through it then" he says looking over at me, I smile placing my hand on his shoulder.
"I wouldn't think about it now, get some sleep, me and you have work to do tomorrow" I smile before walking out the room leaving him alone.
What we didn't know, was the locks weren't gonna do much.
The next morning I woke up bright and early, I had an early morning run and showered before 7am. This meant I had loaded more time to help Brendon, maybe Belle will get off his back afterwards. I walk out my bedroom as the man himself walks up the stairs, to say he was shocked to see me was a huge understatement.
