ARIA
The cabin was a sanctuary, a haven from the chaos that had consumed our lives. As we settled in, the silence was almost palpable, a welcome respite from the constant fear and anxiety that had gripped us.
"I can't believe we're finally here," I said, looking around the cozy cabin. "It feels like a different world."
Maxwell smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I told you it was a special place. My own little slice of heaven."
We unpacked and settled in, the fireplace crackled and spat, casting a warm glow over the room. I felt a sense of peace wash over me as I gazed into the flames, the warmth seeping into my bones.
"Hey, Maxwell?" I said, turning to him as we sat by the fire, the blanket warming my feets.
"Yeah?" he replied, his eyes fixed on mine.
"Thanks for bringing me here. This place feels...safe."
Maxwell's expression softened. "You're welcome, Aria. I knew you needed a break from all this. We both did."
“ And I'm sorry I dragged you into this” I added.
He paused, “ we meet people for a reason, right? Count it that the good God wanted us to go through this together “.
I smiled,chuckled, then laughed.
A happy one.
“What's wrong?” He asked, confused.
“ Don't mind me, I'm weird,but I just got to realize you're a Christian” I answered.
“ Ugghh…” he laughed.
“ Ewwww…. That's gay!”
“What?”
“ An alpha male isn't supposed to do the ‘ugghh’ “ I used my hands to make the quote on quote sign, with a silly look on my face.
He laughed,”Well thanks for the compliment. There's a lake close by, would you like to see it?”
“ I will swim!!” I stood up excited, the blanket pooling at my feet.
I haven't had the luxury to swim in a long while.

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting the sky in a warm orange glow.
We made our way down to the lake, the water lapping gently against the shore. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, and the sky was ablaze with stars.
"I don't know, Maxwell," I hesitated, unsure if I was ready to swim further.
“Are you scared already? Trust me on this Ria” his reassuring smile and the promise of a peaceful evening convinced me.
"Come on, Aria," he said, his voice gentle. "The water's warm, and the stars are out. It'll be perfect."
"Wow," I breathed, looking up at the sky. "This is incredible."
Maxwell smiled, his eyes shining with warmth. "I told you it was special."
As we swam, our strokes synchronized, our bodies gliding through the water with ease. I felt a sense of freedom, of release, as if the water was washing away all our troubles.
"This feels amazing," I said, turning to Maxwell as we floated on our backs. "I feel like I'm melting into the water."
Maxwell chuckled. "That's the idea. Leave all your worries on the shore."
As we swam closer, our eyes locked on each other, and for a moment, we just floated there, suspended in the water.
My loud scream broke the serenity.
“ Oh my goodness! Something's crawling under me!” I jumped on him without thinking twice.
He held me closely while looking to see what the problem was, I was already sobbing. What if it is a snake!
“Scaredy, it's nothing, just the rope from your thong” Maxwell whispered, I could feel the smile from his voice.
“Oh really! “ I croaked, lifting my wet face from his broad shoulders.
“ Hmmm” he hummed, the sound vibrated down my core.
Without thinking, Maxwell reached out and brushed a strand of hair out of my face.
His fingers grazed my skin, sending shivers down my spine.
My heart raced, my pulse pounding in my ears. Our eyes met, and for a moment, we just stared at each other, the world around us melting away.
Maxwell's face drew closer, his lips inches from mine. I felt my breath catch, my heart pounding in my chest.
And then, his lips touched mine, soft and gentle, like a whispered promise.
The world around us melted away, leaving only the two of us, suspended in the water, lost in the moment.
As we broke apart, gasping for air, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. It was as if the world had finally stopped spinning, and we were left standing still, our hearts beating as one.
"Wow," I whispered, my voice barely audible.
Maxwell smiled, his eyes shining with warmth. "Yeah. Wow."
I shivered.
" Let's get you inside before you get a flu, I don't want you getting sick" he whispered.
As we swam back to shore, our arms around each other, the stars twinkling above us like diamonds.
"Thank you, Maxwell," I said, my voice filled with emotion.
Maxwell's arms tightened around me. "Anytime, Aria. We're in this together, always."
"I feel like a weight's been lifted off my shoulders," I said, snuggling closer to him.
"That's what this place does," Maxwell replied, his voice filled with warmth. "It heals."
We walked in comfortable silence for a few moments, the only sound being the water lapping against the shore.
"Hey, Maxwell?" I said, looking up at him.
"Yeah?" he replied, his eyes fixed on mine.
"I'm glad we met," I said, my voice sincere.
Maxwell smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Me too, Aria. Me too."
We reached the cabin, and Maxwell pulled me close, his arms wrapping around me like a warm embrace.
And with that, we drifted off to sleep, the sound of the water lapping against the shore in a distance, a soothing serenade to our peaceful night.
