The surrounding woods came alive with the sound of pounding footsteps, rustling leaves, and the occasional taunting laugh as the chase unfolded. Us twins, Brooks and I, along with our sister Meadow, and our friends, Stella and Aria, were in the middle of an intense game of capture the flag. Our wooden fort stood in the distance, perched high in the trees, the final goal for whichever team could outwit the other.
I sprinted through the underbrush, my heightened alpha senses tuned in to every little sound. The babbling creek, birds overhead, and one set of running feet getting louder and louder the harder I ran. Brooks had already been taken out by Aria, leaving just him and Stella in the game.
