3rd Person's POV
Weekend came and students had a break from the first week of class resumption. Everyone was as eager for two days off despite having begun the 2nd trimester in the university.
Most teens would go out to the mall and pamper themselves. Others would be enjoying at their favorite restaurants with family and friends as they indulge into their favorite snacks.
But for Vanna Walters, it was torture. Her boyfriend of five months would demand some time spent with him.
Vanna, trying to live up to her parents' expectations, promised herself that they will be proud of her knowing that she will marry someone with the same status as their family. She had long been in relationships that didn't last long for barely two to three months. And now that Larry Hades had met her and became approved to her parents' standards, she convinced and willed herself to stay with him for as long as she can endure.
She was just lucky that her half-brother, Vincent, doesn't regularly meet with her to bond because, he would notice the bruises and wounds she got from Larry.
Yes. Larry had been hitting her every time he isn't on the mood or his business deal didn't go well.
Vanna sighed and gazed outside her bedroom window. She doesn't have to worry about meeting Larry today because he has a business trip to Germany until the end of the month.
She has no one to vent out her feelings to but herself.
Living in Japan in accordance with her parents' request was done only out of obedience. She has long been residing with her grandmother in USA for the past ten years so it is quite a major adjustment for her to fit in here.
She only knew few Japanese language but she's more equipped and comfortable talking in English. Basically, it is a universal language that anybody can understand.
But since, she is currently enrolled in Tokyo University, which is really a great one, she has to learn the language. After all, she wants to know if the students don't talk about her let alone are cursing her if she appears weak in front of them.
Vanna curled up her toes as she laid down on her bed. She frowned when she noticed that the red nail polish on her toenails had worn off. She bit her lip contemplating whether or not to reapply it again or let her toenails breathe for awhile.
Her eyes happened to rest at the wall clock and saw that it's already past nine in the morning. It was freezing outside but she knew she will bore herself to death if she wouldn't go out and do something fun.
Vanna looked at her bruises arms and felt relieved that they are finally healing. Gone were the dark spots. They have become a lighter shade of green indicating that her normal skin color will be returning soon.
She is thankful that the season is cooperating with her to put on long sleeve clothes to cover up her marks. At least, she doesn't have to make up excuses for where she has gotten it from.
With one final glance at the clock, she sat up, grabbed the acetone and cotton balls and removed her nail polish on her toenails. Once done, she pulled out her towel right outside her bathroom and went in to shower.
It took Vanna only twenty minutes to bathe herself and immediately wrapped herself with a comfortable pair of jeans and two-layered top. She chose to keep herself warm with a beige frock paired with a black frye boots.
Vanna let her natural curls flow through her shoulders and dried it with a blower. Satisfied with her look, she managed to smile for the camera on her phone and grinned when she get to see her picture.
Indeed, she looks like a woman who is loved by everyone. Yes. Looks.
Oddly, it just doesn't show. For what Vanna knows, only Vincent shows sincere and genuine care for her. That is why she loves her half-brother so much.
Even if she can be a handful, he sees right through her. He treats her right. Like a normal and natural biological sibling.
For a moment back there, Vanna was grateful her dad became his naughty self and made Vincent her brother. At least, she knows someone actually cares.
Grabbing her quilted sling bag, Vanna strutted out of her room after applying on her favorite shade of ruby red lipstick matte.
"Ohayō, madamu." Their maids automatically greeted her as she passed by them with a smile.
(Translation: Good morning, Madame.)
"Gaishutsu shimasu. Jibun de unten shimasu." Vanna said to them politely and grabbed the car keys on top of the stand beside their couch.
(Translation: I'll be going out. I'll drive for myself.)
With that said, she went straight to her red audi car and pressed on the keyfob and hopped inside. Letting out a deep breath, she stepped on the gas and maneuvered the car out of the garage.
It took her around an hour to get to the mall and parked the car. Once done, she slid the keyfob into her sling bag and began her window shopping.
She was called by nature for a moment and made a quick stop at the restroom. When she was able to relieve herself, she heard familiar voices outside the cubicles.
"Goodness, Hanami! That was hilarious!" She heard the voice of the lady whom she have met before and Vanna smiled in recognition.
Both girls were still laughing until she stepped out of the cubicle. Both looked at her in surprise and they blinked.
"Hello! I believe, we have met?" Vanna asked with equal enthusiasm as them.
"Hi. Are you alright, now?" It was Ysabelle who was able to gain back her composure.
Vanna nodded and her face broke into a grin again.
"Ysabelle, right?" Ysabelle nodded. "And you are?" She turned to Hanami beside Ysabelle.
"Hanami." She said in a bored voice and an inquisitive stare at Vanna.
"It was so great bumping into you guys! Come on! Have you had lunch? Let me treat the both of you!" Vanna exclaimed.
"Uh, you don't have to– " Ysabelle started but Vanna shook her head.
"– No. I insist. Come on." Vanna said and pulled them out of the restroom.
Maybe, just maybe, these two will become her angels. After all, they both saved her back then.
