Chapter 2 - A job?

615 Words
Cambria P.O.V.                                                                  Two weeks later     It had been two weeks since moving to this town and so far it has been pretty peaceful. Today was Monday and I had decided I needed a job. So after changing and get ready and French braiding my hair I locked up the apartment with one goal in mind. First stop was to Portia's bakery mainly so I could get a bagel with peanut butter but also to see if she had any openings.      Portia is a younger girl more around my age but she is still a few years older. I had met her on Wednesday when she had been giving out samples outside of her shop. Somehow she managed to drag me inside and bring me more of her samples and a delicious jasmine green tea. Portia was as beautiful as Ava and Cecilia were. Though her hair was shorter then both reaching about an inch and a half higher then her shoulders and was soft brown color. The bakery was a late graduation gift from her father. Portia had told me about how it was so amazing she cried when she found out.  "The usual?" she questioned "Yup how's business?" I asked in the slightly empty room  "Good a little slow today obviously but good still" she laughed gesturing to the lack of customers that surrounded us. "What are you up to today?"  "I am going to go around and try to get hired somewhere. Actually you know maybe help the town in some small way"  We both laughed at that.  "Well I could use some help here. My sister who normally helps is going off to college in Maine in two weeks so she cant be here to help. And the work is to much for me and my junior staffers to do alone."  It was an offer she knew well enough by now I wouldn't refuse. My heart had a love for baking and when I had first come In that was apparent to her.  We enjoyed more conversation and laughs before I had to go. She handed me the schedule I would need to be working and set up some training days just for the two of us.      Checking the time, I realized I had spent more time there than I had planned originally. I started walking towards the library a bit lost in my thoughts.  It was strange to me the drastic changes in my life. Everyday since moving here I slept peacefully. No through clogging heat had managed to swallow me. No beings had managed to keep me spell bound painfully afraid either. It was quite. But I had a large feeling the likely hood of my life staying that way for long was nearly impossible. I walked into the library greeting the older couple that seemed to possibly be the owners before browsing the first row of books on my right. These books were more fact based, and while I could appreciate a good fact or two here and there and enjoyed being knowledgeable they weren't quite what I was looking for. The next row seemed to be books for students with things like SAT prep and ATC preps. I decided to go the other end and start from there. This side started with children's stories then continued into young adults and eventually reaching adult fiction stories.      Though my mother had tried her hardest to get into my brain that a young girl of my nature shouldn't be reading as much of nonsense as she had called it. I still couldn't help but be drawn to the witches, werewolves, vampires, dark knights of motorcycles forever changing a innocent girls life.
