Foul-smelling breath blew into Laurie's nostrils and grimacing, she turned her face away. Her arm was sharply yanked behind her again. Screaming in pain, she yelled, “Stop! You'll break my arm!" A kick to the back of her legs brought her painfully to her knees. Her hair was wrenched back, and her throat was exposed. Remembering the knife in her shoe, she fumbled for it in a panic and opened it with one hand. Swinging her arm as hard as she could, she jabbed the blade into the side of the man's thigh who was standing above her. Roaring like a wounded lion, he let her go.
