Chapter 2 Dating for Two Years

"Cathy, you're a part of me forever." Ethan brandished his forearm tattoo. "You are so beautiful..." Lowering his head, gazing lovingly at Cathy's hand, he prepared to put the ring on her finger. His voice was filled with excitement, his eyes brimming with tears. It seemed that he had been waiting for this day for a long time. A gentle breeze blew, lifting Cathy's dark hair. "I... I..." Cathy was deeply moved. Her eyes instantly reddened, her gaze filled with joy as she opened her mouth and halted, as though she didn't know how to respond in her excitement. The onlookers around them, touched by the scene, smiled kindly at the couple. "Say yes! He seems like a good guy!" "How lucky! It reminds me of our own story." "Marry him! Marry him!" Hearing the cheers from the crowd, a smug smile flashed in Ethan's eyes. As Cathy, covering her mouth, was about to nod in agreement, Selena could no longer hold back. Furious, she marched toward the cheating man, like a warrior preparing for battle. She was determined to expose the cheater's lies and teach him a lesson he would never forget! Selena walked towards Ethan, casually picking up a wine glass that a man near her was holding up, her high heels clicking on the floor as she stormed forward. "Hey!" the man protested. Ethan was completely unaware of the movement behind him. Kneeling on the ground, still gazing at Cathy, he continued his heartfelt confession, "Cathy, you are the first..." "You are the first woman I ever loved." Selena finished her sentence in a cold and sarcastic tone. She hadn't expected Ethan to use the exact same line on both of them. Even the tone was the same! This scumbag had been lying to her all along! Selena's sudden appearance shocked the still emotionally-stirred Cathy. Cathy didn't understand why this woman had suddenly appeared, but it was clear from her aggressive stance that she wasn't there to offer blessings. Ethan, hearing the voice behind him, felt it was strangely familiar. He turned around in surprise but didn't have time to react before a cup of cold water splashed directly into his face. "What the f—" The sting of the cold water in his eyes made him curse, and he quickly stood up to wipe it off. Seeing the woman in front of him, he froze, guilt and shock evident in his expression. "Selena!? What are you doing here?" Selena had rarely visited his company, so Ethan hadn't expected it to be her. Cathy stood up, shocked, and looked between the two of them. Realizing something, she got up, trying to act casual, and asked, "What is happening?" Suppressing the anger inside, Selena sneered, casting Cathy a disdainful glance, and replied, "Well, Cathy, I've been dating this man for two years." Cathy's mouth hung open in disbelief as she turned to look at Ethan, her eyes filled with hurt. Selena's words continued, her voice cold and biting, like a sword meant to expose Ethan's hypocritical face. "And now he's proposing. To you!" "No..." Cathy blinked rapidly, feeling dizzy. She muttered under her breath, 'Oh my god! This can't be true!' Ethan's face turned frantic. He looked at Selena, silently pleading with his eyes for her to stop talking. But Selena was unmoved. Smiling, she grabbed the hand Ethan had been holding, the one with Cathy's name tattooed on it. In front of Cathy, she rubbed the water from the cup onto Ethan's wrist, and in an instant, the tattoo became smudged! "This was my name yesterday!" The mocking smile on Selena's face was like the final spark that ignited Cathy's fury. Cathy screamed, clutching her head, "What the hell, Ethan! You f*****g asshole!" Cathy couldn't accept getting involved in someone else's relationship. She gasped for breath and looked around, looking around for something to hit Ethan with. Selena smiled smugly, her eyes shining with anticipation. If Cathy couldn't find something, Selena was more than happy to lend a hand. A cheater who deceives others deserves to be punished! Finally, Cathy spotted a water cup on the table and, as if struck by a sudden thought, grabbed it. In a swift motion, she threw the water straight at Ethan's face. "We're done for good!" Cathy shouted. With fire in her eyes, she grabbed her bag and stormed out of the room. Selena took a step back, giving Cathy space to pass by. After Cathy left, Selena raised an eyebrow and looked at Ethan, who was drenched and disheveled, his hair a mess, his face a picture of embarrassment. She smirked, "Proposing, aren't we? Oh, looks like your fiancée has run away. What are you going to do about that?" "You!" Ethan trembled with anger, pointing at her, but his eyes caught a glimpse of Cathy's retreating figure. He couldn't care less about what Selena had to say. In a panic, he quickly ran after Cathy, shouting, "Cathy! I can explain!" Selena crossed her arms, turning around smugly, as though she were a queen who had just won a battle, watching his disheveled figure disappear into the distance. Sitting by the side, Cedric Rosenthal hadn't expected to witness in person such a complete drama featuring cheating and exposing the cheater. He recalled how the woman had casually grabbed his water cup when she passed by earlier, and a meaningful smile curled at the corner of his mouth. A glimmer of interest flashed in his eyes as he sized Selena up.
