While Mason succeeded in getting Ines to agree to fly to San Francisco with him, it did not go entirely as planned. First off, her initial refusal caught him off guard. It’s not that he’d never been rejected by a woman before. Occasionally, a girlfriend would break things off with him. He’d always do his best to take it graciously, like a gentleman.
