Chapter 27 State of Play
“Stranded!” Caprica said over the phone. Her voice was wrought with concern. “You got a place to stay, honey?”
“Yes. I’m fine, don’t worry,” Ines assured her. She chewed the inside of her bottom lip, hesitant to say her next words. She was already imposing on her friend’s generosity and she didn’t want to ask for one more favor. “I just won’t be able to get back until tonight. You don’t mind if I move my stuff tomorrow morning, do you?” They’d agreed that Ines would move her things to Caprica’s spare room that afternoon.
“It’s fine. Your room’s ready, I’ll just slip the key under your door on my way to work tomorrow.”
Ines breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank you so much, Caprica. I really appreciate this. I owe you big time.”
