“I’m recruiting a Demon,” Ines said. She dropped a handful of cards on the game board, a triumphant smile on her face. Daria Han groaned. “Damn it, I needed that one!” she said, throwing down the cards in her hand. “Hang on!” Tony Rossi held up his free hand, demanding everyone’s attention. “Ines recruiting her seventh Demon triggers the end of the game, but that still leaves everyone else one last turn.” “Okay, my turn!” Caprica said. She held out a black bead between a thumb and forefinger. “I’m plotting in Hell.” They were sitting around the coffee table in Ines’s living room, playing a tabletop game. They had gaming sessions on Saturdays, once every two weeks. Ines had forgotten she was hosting that day until Daria showed up at her door at 10 a.m. with a grocery bag full of chips.
