“Piper, I can't possibly find a new apartment in two days," Ines said, trying not to panic. "Could you give me two weeks, at least?"
“Maybe you should have thought of that before screwing me over," Piper said. Her voice was cold.

"I can only hope you sabotaged your career on purpose, Ines. Because you would have to be too stupid to have done this by accident. My new assistant will be in touch. I trust you'll be able to turn over all your work files and materials to them without screwing that up as well?"
“Uh, yes.” Ines bit her lower lip. She felt a sob rise in her chest, but she fought it back. She was not going to cry.
