Chapter 45
Bayley's POV
I was slowly making my way back home. I was trying to be careful not to let these hunters know where my pack was, but I knew they already knew exactly where I was going. I knew I was three hours away from the pack. I knew I wasn’t done getting rid of them, but I also knew I needed to get home. So, I mindlinked my mate.
"Heads up, I'm coming in full force. There are four behind me, be ready," I knew if I shifted into my lycan, I could be there in an hour. So, that's what I've done. I shifted into her and ran full force back home. The hunters were just a memory for now, but they knew where to find me, and I was ready. It took just an hour to get home. My mate and several warriors and guards were at the border waiting for me. Then, I felt them, the hunters. They caught up quickly, on dirt bikes, those motherfuckers. The first shot got my arm, the second got my leg. They were determined to get me. Then suddenly, others came out. They were hunters, but not the ones I had been running from, these were Digg's hunters, the vampire hunters. What were they doing here? Where was Digg? They brought out their shotguns and started shooting. The others on dirt bikes, one by one, were going down hard, the bikes flying through the air, landing and then exploding. Soon, I heard no more shooting. Was it over? My lycan started healing me right away. I knew they weren't going to stop coming. I got up and then suddenly slammed my fist down on the ground. The ground started opening up, swallowing the dead hunters. When more came, the vines came from the ground, grabbing the bikes and smashing them on the ground with the hunters. When I stood up, the ground went back together, but there was one more hunter standing there looking at me.
"You think you got us, don't you? You want to know why we killed your kind? Because you're cursed. You can change into anything you want and fool everyone. Your kind killed many of us, and you think it's okay, but when we kill you, you think it's horrible. You're the last one, and I'm not going to let you live. You're a nasty, smelly creature that needs to be put..." I didn't give him time to finish. I got one of the guns from the vampire hunters and shot the hunter in the head. Half of his head was shot off. I was sick of listening to him. I watched as the body fell on the ground, then it opened up, swallowing the body whole. Sighing and dropping the gun, I was so tired, exhausted. My whole body felt like it was giving up, needing rest. I had hardly slept or eaten in days. I felt myself falling to the ground, and then I felt arms catching me - the arms of my mate. He hurried me to the pack hospital to see what was wrong with me. I knew he had to be worried. I don't blame him; I had been gone for months, and now that I'm back, I fell. When I woke up, I didn't even know what day it was.
"You're finally awake, thank the goddess."
"How long have I been out like this?"
"For three whole damn days, how did you open the earth like that? Never in my life have I ever seen something like that,"
"I don't know, my lycan is the only one that knows how to do it. She hits the ground, chants something, and then it happens. Where are the others, the vampire hunters? Are they all okay?"
"Yeah, they came to the pack a week before you showed up. They told me what you said and then said they will stay. There's going to be trouble coming, and sure enough it came. They are all gone now, and Diggs left you his shotgun. He says it's yours now, he will get another one. He said he would be back one day, but for right now, he has work to do." I sighed when I knew it was finally over. All I wanted now was to rest, maybe take a bath, and eat something hot. The doctors hurried inside the room; they looked at me, shocked to see that I was finally awake.
"Let me check your vitals, and you can go home if everything checks out okay." So, he checked my vitals, then put a light in my eyes and told me to follow it. That thing was giving me a headache. Then he checked my throat, then my blood pressure. He took blood and then told me I could go home. He would call me with the test results from the blood. If there is a problem, I should come back so he could check me again. Hunter brought me some sweats; I put them on. Then we went home. I was still a little tired, but I was more hungry than anything else. The cooks brought up soup and grilled cheese; I ate all of it. Hunter held me throughout the night. This was just a start with us, soon we will be trying for a pup, maybe two or three.
