Stunned, he stares at the closed door for a minute before forcing himself to go back to the gym, a part of him hoping Alys has had the good sense to return to her quarters and save them both from the awkward aftermath.
While walking the gravel path that cuts through a plain little garden with mostly green shrubs and a few wildflowers here and there, something occurs to him that forces him to a halt. The cold morning breeze blows, making the leaves and branches of the plants and trees around him sway gently.
