Shayne's POV
I already had everything planned out the night after the awkward dinner with my ‘new family’.
I would try avoiding the guys as stealthily as I possibly can. I woke up very early, got dressed for school and headed downstairs only to meet the triplets gathered in the kitchen. The aroma of pancakes and fried eggs filled my nostrils the moment I stepped down.
I was surprised to see all of them there, busy and in their pyjamas. I didn't realize I had been holding my breath while staring at them, swallowing at the sight of the messy hair, drowsy eyes and cute sleepy expressions on their faces.
It was my first time seeing them look so casual with different expressions on their faces other than grumpy, angry, narcissistic ones.
However, the moment they spotted me, their eyes simultaneously darkened, a cruel knowing smirk on their lips as they watched me slowly alight the steps.
“Good morning, step sister. Care to join us for breakfast?” Thane said over a pan of fried eggs still on the cooker. He was the only one amongst them that braided his hair into neat, long cornrows.
I was reluctant. “No. Thank you. I usually skip breakfast.” It was a lie but I would rather starve till lunch than have to sit with them at breakfast.
However, the moment I turned, I saw Theodore standing right Infront of me with that evil smirk on his gorgeous face. It's so f****d up how these beings were one of the most beautiful creatures in the planet but were evil assholes and jerks.
I gasped, moving back with a shock. I had seen him standing in the kitchen just before I turned. He was very fast. However, as I staggered back, someone caught me from behind and I saw Thane standing behind me with a plate of eggs and bacon on the plate.
“Aww. Don't skip breakfast because of us. Come on. Have a sit. We spent all morning making these. At least have a taste.” Thomas was the one pulled a chair.
They were being nice and I didn't associate the Triplets with the word. I could feel a crumpling, uncomfortable sensation in my stomach and we all sat down to eat. Thane went round serving everyone orange juice.
By the time he was done, he sat down and they began eating without paying any heed to me. I just sat there, scared to even move an inch.
“Eat the food, Shayne.” Thomas said in a sharp, cold voice, a serious expression on his face directed towards me.
I jolted in my seat and reached for the fork and began eating. The food was actually delicious and in seconds, I was done.
They ordered me to wait for them and I did while they showered and dressed up.
“We wanted to give you a ride to school.” Thane explained as they alighted the stairs all dressed up.
Their words meant well, and I should have completely trusted them even after the hearty breakfast they had made me, but I still had this gut feeling that their true intentions were not as pure as they tried to make it seem.
The same tightening knot feeling in my chest worsened as Theodore put his hands around me with a smile on his face while Thomas led us out with the car keys of their mustang and a deep settled frown on his face.
“Guys, you really don't have to. I can walk. I- it's some form of exercise I've been trying.” I stammer, wishing I could just disappear when I was led inside the Car.
“We're a family now, Shayne. Our dad and mum gave us a speech yesterday at the table on how we have to look out for each other henceforth. Now, what type of brothers would we be if we let you walk to school instead of taking a ride with us?” Thane cut me off as he took the passenger seat with Thomas while I sat in the back with Theodore.
I swallowed and said nothing even after the car zoomed off into the road. By the time we got to a narrow, lonely bush path, Thomas suddenly stopped the car.
I began panicking without hesitation, feeling my heartbeat pump faster and my hands turn sweaty but I maintained my composure, tightly holding onto the side of my dress.
“What's going on?” I asked, almost in a hushed whisper.
“The homeworks. Are they all done?” The smile from Thane's face had disappeared now and his voice was no more friendly.
Trembling, I quickly pulled them from my bag. “Yes.. here they… “ Theodore immediately snatched them from my hands without letting me finish.
“Good. Now Get out.”
I thought I hadn't heard well, but then again, what was I expecting from them.
“What?”
“Didn't you hear what he said,” Thomas voice thundered in the vehicle andi almost lost consciousness from fear as theyr predatory eyes met mine. “Or are you deaf?”
“B- but… this is the middle of the woods. T- there could be rogues.” I could feel myself panicking even more by the passing second.
“I thought you walked to school. How come you never complained about it.”
“I normally don't take this path. Everyone knows you're not supposed to take on this path on foot. Please, this is their territory. I will be gone in minutes.”
“If that really was our concern, we'd let you know. Now leave. Or I'll throw you out personally.” Theodore thundered and the brothers chuckled as I burst into tears from fear.
My knuckles shook as I grabbed onto the handle of the car door, but the rising fear in me wouldn't let me open the car door.
“Open the door Shayne, we're already late for class.” Thomas sighed angrily. I could tell their patience was already thawing out with me and I dreaded how they usually became when that happened.
“Foolish b***h. I'm starting to think you're also latent in the brain as well. Did you really think after making you a nice breakfast, we'd actually take you to school? Who do you think you are? Because we're related now? You're going to regret having us as step brothers. We'll make your life even more miserable from here on.” Theodore scoffed.
“You better do hope the rogues find you and kill you. You'll be better off in their hands than with us.” Thane sneered and Thomas scoffed with an evil smirk.
They were really enjoying this. Seeing me in pain, in tears, seeing the hurt in my eyes at their words, smelling the fear all over me.
Suddenly Thomas automatically opened the door and Theodore kicked me out by literally throwing one leg out, kicking ne hard at the side and out the door.
Their maniac laughter filled my ears once I landed on the floor, but I couldn't let them drive away. My senses weren't sharp as a full fledged werewolf, but I could pick up on blood and rogue scent.
No… I couldn't die. Not like this. Not when I was so close to finding my mate. My only hope in this miserable life of mine.
I hanged onto the door tightly, making it hard for Theodore to shut the door. After a few seconds of struggling, Thane opened his door, hitting me hard at the side of the head. I felt my head spin as I loosened my grip just as they shut their doors before falling to the ground.
But my fear didn't give me the luxury of time to feel the pain and fresh blood slipping down the side of my head as I chased the car.
However, seconds before they began driving away, a large, even bigger car, a jeep, sped after them from behind me, hitting the mustang squarely from behind.
I was so much in shock, I could only stand there with my eyes as wide as saucers.
However, tears rose up in them when David got down from the car and ran towards me with Julie.
“Shayne, are you okay? f**k, you're bleeding. Julie get the first aid box from the car.” David ran up to me first while Julie retreated back to the car frantically.
The worry in his brown eyes seemed to make all the pain go away immediately, but I couldn't deny the fact that it felt like my whole head would soon explode.
He cupped my face and slides his thumb across my cheek, wiping the tears that kept rolling. I was still traumatized from the fear of what would have happened If David hadn't intervened. What would have become of me if those jerks had actually gotten away and left me there.
“David wanted to drop you off at school this morning but your step mom already informed me that they opted to drop you off instead. I knew they were no good so I told him to follow them here instead. Thank goodness you're okay.” Julie explained.
“Don't worry, you'll be fine. I'm here. I've got you okay? I promise.” His voice was soft and tender as his touch as he suddenly carried me in his arms, my arms wrapping around his shoulder to hold on.
His intoxicating musk perfume evaded my senses, coupled with his natural manly scent and his strong arms around my body, I felt the embodiment of perfection in his arms.
My short term relief was cut short when the Triplets came out of the car, with furious, murderous expressions on their faces.
“Are you f*****g blind or did you really choose today as the day you die? Who do you think you are?!” Thane thundered in a loud voice, a growl leaving his lips. He looked so close to shifting and tearing David apart.
“I knew you guys were jerks, but I didn't think you were this much of assholes to leave her here in the middle of the woods. She could have died.”
Thane looked like he wanted to say something, but Thomas reached out and stopped him. He looked angry, but this was something unfathomable in his eyes as he looked from David to me and back again.
“Let's go.”
“What? And let that bastard get away? I'll rip him and the two bitches to shreds.” Theodore growled.
“That's the Alpha King's Son, Damien Cain.” Thomas looked angry, frustrated more likely as he forced out thebwords through gritted teeth. “There's nothing we can do but thread carefully when it comes to him. So let's just go.”
“Fuxking cowards. Don't you ever lay even a single finger On Shayne ever again. You don't have anything to do with me or anyone's that's mine from now henceforth or else. I'll show you I'm not just an Alpha King's son. I'll be your worst nightmare.”
Hearing him utter those words, I felt a weird pleasuring clench between my legs, his lips tasting my name set my body on fire like i was in heat.
The frustrated, angry and helpless looks on the Triplets' faces were satisfying to watch as they got into their bashed up car and sped away.
