7. Friends Part Two

2120 Words
POV: Leila Fox left me alone in my room so he could go back to help with our father. I lay on my bed as I thought about our father, and how he used to be. My dad was the sweetest male in the world, he was my hero, but after mom passed he was like a different person. I know it's not all his fault because his wolf is the one that takes control of him, but sometimes it is him and that hurts the worst. It was like I lost both parents that day. Now, when I picture the man who raised me, all I see is Damon. I sat up and shook my head to get rid of these thoughts. I've just found my mate, and I am going to be starting a new chapter in my life soon. I don't want to think about my father right now. I grabbed my phone from my desk and texted Janie to ask if she wanted to come to my room. She replied that she'd be right there. Ever since Joyce joined the pack, Janie and I have become extremely close. She is the same age as me and is like a sister to me. It was only a minute later that Janie entered my room, since she lives a floor above me with her sister Joyce. Janie immediately sat at the edge of my bed before smiling mischievously and saying, "Tell me everything!" "How do you know already?" I asked as I sat at the head of my bed facing her. "Are you kidding? Everyone is talking about it. They saw you and the King together," Janie said excitedly. "I shouldn't be surprised," I replied, laughing. "So? Don't hold out on me? What's it like?" Janie asked, scooting closer. "I guess- I mean it's hard to describe," I hesitated. "Try!" Janie exclaimed. I chuckled at her enthusiasm before saying, "When Lucifer touches me, it's like electricity running through my entire body, but instead of hurting, it sets me aflame and all I want is more. I want to be by Lucifer's side all the time. Even now, I'm having trouble concentrating because all I can think about is him. It's as if my heart is calling out to him." I stopped to see that Janie had this dreamy and wishful look on her face. Janie shifted at 13 like most wolves, but still hasn't found her mate. "It sounds magical," Janie said softly. "It is. It's amazing." I replied, smiling widely. Janie got serious before asking, "Does he know that you're, you know? A hybrid?" Everyone knew of the animosity between the Witch Queen and the Alpha King, so I knew that Janie would be worried about that. "Yes, and he said he's okay with it. I even told him I'm related to the Queen. Lucifer said he didn't care," I replied. Janie looked at me in surprise before she smiled widely, "I'm glad because if he did have a problem he'd have to take it up with me first. I don't care that he is the King." I laughed at the fierce look in her eyes before saying, "I'm glad to. You're the best Janie." Janie flipped her brown hair over her shoulder before saying, "I know." We both held straight faces for about 20 seconds before we burst into laughter. We finally settled down enough for Janie to ask, "So, did you kiss, Lucifer? Don't think I missed that part. Calling the King by his name." I shook my head and smiled as I replied, "He is my mate. Do you think I'd just call him the King, forever?" Janie rolled her eyes before saying, "No, but still, you said it so casually. And don't think you can change the subject. Did you kiss him?" I looked away from her and played with my fingers. Janie gasped and pointed at me, "You did! You so made out with the King!" "Okay! Yes! I kissed him! Happy now?" I exposed, hoping she'd let it go. "No! What was it like?" Janie asked curiously. Like me, Janie is saving herself for her mate. I sighed before saying, "It was strange but good. I had no clue what to do, but he took the lead and I got the hang of it. It was really great. He was great at it." Janie smiled widely as I spoke until a moment later when she narrowed her eyes and asked, "How great was he?" I gave Janie a look that confirmed her suspicions. Janie frowned before saying, "He's been with another she-wolf." It wasn't a question. I nodded and said, "I'd bet on it. I don't know how many or who. I didn't even think about it until Sia mentioned it. I can't be angry with him. I mean, he's had to wait a lot longer than I have." Janie just shook her head before she replied, "Maybe, but Damon waited for his mate. Aren't they the same age?" I shrugged and said, "Damon is a year younger." "Still, he could have waited for you," Janie said as she frowned. "I guess so, but every person is different. Besides, maybe he did and just kissed a lot." It sounded dumb even as I said it, but I wanted to defend my mate. Janie gave me a small smile as she said, "Maybe." I could tell she didn't believe that and was just trying to be supportive. "It doesn't really matter much either way. I mean, I wish he would have waited for me as well, but that's in the past. As long as I'm his only from here on out." I say to lighten the mood and I mean it too. Janie smiled at me before saying, "You're such a better person than I am Lee. I could never be that forgiving so quickly." I shook my head and replied, "I'm not, but thank you. And yes you could. You're amazing, Janie." Janie nodded like she expected me to say that and said, "If you're happy, then I'm happy. But I'm mad that you're leaving me alone with the mean girls." I chuckled at the nickname Janie gave Amy and Beth. Janie is the only one besides Joyce who knew that Amy and Beth didn't like me. Because of this, they didn't like Janie either. Janie wanted to tell my brothers that their mates were bitches, her word not mine, but I wouldn't let her. They were good to the pack members and my brothers, it's just me they dislike, and I don't want to create a rift between the pack and my brothers just because they are mean to me. Janie does not agree, but she promised not to say anything for me. "I know. I wish you could come with me. I'm nervous enough about going to a new pack and becoming a Queen. I wish I could have my sister there." I said sincerely. I grabbed Janie's hand, then her voice was lost to me as my sight faded, and a vision played in my mind. Janie is in the arms of a man I've seen before. The one that came with Lucifer. She is looking at him with concern in her eyes, and he has a cut on his left bicep. 'Mate! You're hurt!' Janie said. He looked down at her and shook his head. He said something too softly for me to hear before he gently pressed their lips together. My sight came back to me slowly, and I removed my hand from Janie even though the vision was over. I could see Janie's concerned face. My ears were ringing, and it took a minute for me to hear what she was saying. "Lee? Are you okay? Did you see something?" Janie asked, concern clear in her voice. "I- I'm okay." I stammered, trying to get my senses back. I shook my head to stop the ringing in my ears. "Did you see something?" Janie asked after a moment. Janie has seen me have visions enough times that she knows the signs. I nodded and tried to decide whether I could tell her or not. Janie waited patiently, knowing I might not be able to tell her. I calmed my racing mind and spoke to Sia, 'It shouldn't matter if I tell her, right? Her mate is here right now. Wouldn't they just meet while he's here?' 'I believe so, but you can't tell her what the vision was.' Sia replied. 'I know. Her mate was hurt, and it felt like something bad happened. I smelt blood.' I told Sia, a shiver racked my body. What could it mean? Was I supposed to prevent it? Is someone going to attack my mate and Janie's mate got hurt defending him? Is my pack going to be attacked? So many questions raced through my mind. 'Leila, calm down, everything will be okay. We know about it now. I believe that our visions are meant to help people. We will be able to warn the ones we love when the time is right. Trust in the Goddess.' Sia implored. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, picturing Sia in my mind as I replied, 'You're right. I trust the Goddess, but I'm also afraid. If the visions are meant to be warnings, what if I don't understand them until it's too late?' Sia was silent until she said, 'If that happens we will deal with it together. It will take time to control this new ability and to fully understand it.' I nodded even though Sia couldn't see me before replying, 'I just wish it would be sooner rather than later.' 'It will be, I'm sure. Now, let's focus on the positive. Janie is mated to one of Lucifer's men, which means she will be coming with us!' Sia said excitedly. Sia and Janie's wolf, Holly, have formed a strong bond just like me and Janie. I opened my eyes and smiled widely at my friend. Janie's face showed concern and confusion at my change in mood. "I'm taking you with me!" I shouted as I jumped off my bed. "What? Where? What are you-" Janie questioned, but I grabbed her hand and dragged Janie off my bed before she could finish her sentence. I pulled Janie out of my room and jogged down the hallway heading for the stairs. "Where are we going?" Janie asked as she walked behind me. I may be jogging, but Janie has long legs so she can easily catch up. I didn't bother answering her as we made it to the stairs and began taking two at a time to get to the floor below us. Janie was still asking where we were going and why the rush, but I ignored her. I didn't want to give it away. We got to the third floor and I walked up the door to my mate's room. I don't know how I knew that Janie's mate would be in there too. I just did. I finally stopped in front of the door and Janie bumped into me. I guess I was moving faster than I thought. I quickly knocked on the door before Janie grabbed my hand to stop me. "Will you tell me what we're doing now?" Janie asked, exasperated and amused. "You'll see," I replied before knocking on the door again. A minute later, a man opened the door, but he wasn't Janie's mate. "Hello, do you-" He began, but I cut him off by saying, "Excuse us!" It came out more high-pitched than I meant, but who cares, I'm excited. I ducked under the man's arm and went inside. Janie did the same and said a quick sorry. I pulled Janie in front of me by the hand I hadn't let go and pushed her back. I wanted her to get a good look around to see her mate. "Why are you pushing me? What are you doing?" Jaine asked, but the next second she froze and stopped letting me push her. I moved to Janie's right and waited. I bounced on the balls of my feet in excitement. I looked between Janie and her mate, Sia moved from her favorite corner to watch too, and we waited for one of them to move. Janie's mate moved first as he stood up and said, "Mate." Janie's mate walked over to her and enveloped her in his arms. My face ached from how big I'm smiling. I couldn't stop the sequel that escaped me and a small clap before I said, "I told you I'm taking you with me!"
