“Answer me, Lucah! Did you do this? Did you have them killed?” Elle asks, tears welling in her eyes, causing my heart to clench. I haven’t thought about what I would say if she heard about them. I didn’t think she would. Elle doesn’t like watching the news. She says there are too many bad things happening, and they just depress her. I was gonna take her to the penthouse tomorrow, and she was never gonna know. I know even though they hurt her, she wouldn’t have wanted me to kill them, but I don’t wanna lie to her. I don’t know how to. “Please tell me you didn’t do it,” she adds as a lone tear slides down her cheek and I open my mouth to speak, not even sure what I wanna say, but she pushes past me, heading to her bedroom.
