Beta Marco let out a low whistle of appreciation as he saw the little raven haired beauty step hesitantly towards him. It earnt him a low warning growl from the chamber within.
Just letting you know you are one lucky guy. He chuckled. Winding up his rather serious friend Elkhart was Marco's favourite hobby. The Thymes had served the Burnwood Alphas for centuries and were partnered up from birth to train, live and work together. It created a brotherly bond which was hard to break. But the Burnwoods were not just wolves. The were Lycan's. Royalty amonst werewolf kind as they were decended from the Origionals. They aged slower and were strong and faster. They healed far more quickly. But their numbers were few and there were only 12 royal lines around the world. Each ruled over territories.
Elkhart was already 27 and unmated and he had been growing more sullen and restless the past few years. Dark moods had struck him and Marco had had to calm him down too many times. But now his mate was a human. Marco grinned and thanked the moon goddess for providing such mischeif and challenge for Elkhart. The tyrant deserved it from the past few years temper tantrums and irrational mood swings. He had been lonely but he hadn't needed to take it out on everyone around him.
That is my mate. You will respect her and keep your eyes to yourself!
So...you want me to close my eyes around her? That may be rather problematic. Marco jested. He took it back. Elkhart may now be worse. Much worse.
'Hello, you must be Fraya...' Marco asked, prompting her to fill in.
'Evergreen' She provided in a small voice.
'Lovely name! For such a lovely girl. How old are you?' Marco was enjoying probing her, knowing full well the longer she spoke to her, the longer Elkhart had to wait.
'Urm...I'm 18 soon.' She answered.
Marco's eyes widened. She was young. Pity reflected in his eyes. She looked too serious to be that young. What kind of life had she led?
'Umm...what now?' She hopped from foot to foot.
'ENTER!' Elkhart boomed from within his office. His patience had reached its limits. How dare Beta Marco ellicit information about his mate before him? He could feel his wolf getting restless. We need to see her.
On cue, Fraya opened the door and stepped in.
Elkharts jaw almost hit the floor. She was so sexy. His eyes travelled her body, caressing every curve. It took all of his will power not to pounce.
'Sit!' He commanded through gritted teeth.
Was he angry? Fraya wondered, startled by his gruff but sensual voice. She had kept her head down and eyes fixed on the floor as she entered. At his bark she had looked up and was captivated by his eyes. They were a deep red today and shone even brighter framed by his dark locks. The seemed to say dessert.
Elkhart could not think. His brain had entered a heady haze gazing at his beautiful mate. He gripped the underside of the desk and his claws protruded as he fought off his wolf. He felt his fangs begining to break through his gums. He needed to gain control.
Abruptly, he swung his chair around so he faced the window. He had to hold his breath so as not to gulp down her delicious scent. You are a Lycan. You must not...can not lose your mate.
His wolf whined but backed down. They needed her if they ever wanted to start a family, have a future.
All the while, Fraya shifted uncomfortably in her chair uncertain what to do in the prolonged silence. This was awkward. She felt flush and aroused just in this mans presence. Her heart rate was erratic and she needed to calm down. She started her breathing technique to calm her down. She felt herself fading. Invisible. You are invisible.
'Fraya!' The shout was full of desperation and need.
She blinked. Red eyes looked into hers with disbelief.
'How did you do that?' He demanded. Fraya was thrown into confusion. Do what?
Her face must have comunicated her inner thoughts.
'Your presence...it..vanished.' He couldn't quite explain it but he could feel her but then she was gone. He had whirled round so fast only to find her sat right there.
'I didn't move, ' She sqeeked.
Elkhart stood up and moved round the desk and engulfed her in a warm embrace, lifting her from her chair. He buried his nose into her neck and inhaled deeply. It calmed his heart. He felt as if he had lost her. The pain had been excruciating even in that split second.
'Ummmm...' Her squirming called him back to his senses.
He released her and Fraya was suprised by how much she already missed his embrace. Her cheeks flushed deep pink. She was constantly the shade of a plum round this man. She couldn't keep a straight head.
'So...Alpha Burnwood...sir. What is my first order?' She fiddled with a button on her dress.
A grin spread across his face. It was as if she had been bathed in the light of an angel. His beauty was equal to that of a Greek God. Adonis. Fraya was mesmerised as he took a step closer.
'You are not to leave my side. Not even for a second,' He leaned in and whispered into her ear.
