~ That Kind of Effect ~

~ • ~ • ~ SHE received a message from Heathe early in the morning, telling her that she might get a little tied up the entire day. And she found no problem at all. Besides, she didn't want to be demanding because she knew that they both needed time to attend their own businesses. But that didn't change the fact that she missed Heathe. Today, she made her time worth spending by helping out at the farm. Apparently, she had been so engaged with Heathe that she missed a lot of things she had used to be doing in her daily routine. Her father was against her plan of giving a hand, but she was persistent, telling them that she would only get bored if she stayed at home. She did a lot of convincing, which eventually, agreed by her father. It had only been days since the last time she went to work at the farm, yet she could feel that she was gone for so long. She really missed being productive. That being the case, she was perky as she started helping out. She didn't even notice that the time had passed quickly, and only took a break when her mother told her that it was already noontime. She was ready to follow her mother to the hut not far away from where she was when, all of a sudden, a person she hated to see blocked her way. "Aren't you only working here to earn money for your college? But I found out that you're already a scholar. Things might be easy now that your connection has expanded," Sandra said, with an apparent farce in her tone. Her brows were pulled into a crease as she tried to comprehend her statement. She had a feeling that this conversation would lead to no good if she let her emotions take over. She sighed. "Miscellaneous isn't free, as well as my daily fare. I may need an extra budget, anyway." Sandra scoffed. "Won't Heathe handle everything?" Although her ears were starting to hurt by Sandra's indirect accusation, she still got ahold of herself. "What do you mean?" "C'mon, she's well off. You're lucky she can give you the world." "Well, I appreciate your impression of me." She said with an equal travesty. "But let me remind you that I'm not the kind who would get into a relationship just so I can take advantage of my partner." Sandra's face flushed and she glared at her. What she was about to say was interrupted by the presence of her mother. "Let's go, Ayen. Lunch is ready." She silently thanked her mother for showing up when she needed her. She walked past Sandra, who looked at her in annoyance. No matter how much she ignored her, she just kept on appearing just to start a war between them. And Sandra had gotten more mental when Heathe started dating her. "Don't let her dense comments get into your head. She's just jealous." Her mother reminded her. Her lips stretched into a smile. "Yes, they won't. I know that what she said wasn't true, anyway." But honestly, she was concerned. No matter how much she knew that what she said wasn't true, she still couldn't avoid the impact of each word. She started thinking about whether everyone thought the same as Sandra had. She sighed in despair. She tried to act like she was okay around everybody. But after having lunch, she insisted on going back to their house instead. She was grateful that she didn't have to lie if she was ever questioned by her mother, who, obviously, wanted to ask something. When she got home, she received a text message from Heathe, filling in. But she decided not to reply back because she felt like she was having an anxiety attack and she didn't want to talk to anyone. She eventually let herself succumb to sleep. SHE had no idea how much time had passed by. She just found herself being slightly shaken by her mother. "I'm sorry to disturb you in your sleep but someone's waiting for you outside." Her mother added. She slowly pulled herself into a sitting position while trying to open her eyes. "Who are they?" "They said they're Heathe's friends." She nodded as she kept fighting against the temptation to lie down, again. She really felt exhausted even though she didn't do a lot today. However, she had to attend to Heathe's friends. She looked for her phone to see if they had been contacting her prior to being there. But they had not. She only saw Heathe's last message, which she might have received while she was in the middle of slumbering. And that was when she was informed that they were going out today. As soon as she was done fixing herself, she went out of her room, only to find Heathe's best friends casually sitting on the sofa. "Heathe said you're ready," Caddie uttered with a slight irritation in her voice. "Sorry, I didn't read her message before I fell asleep. Have you been here long?" "Enough time to feel bored." She added. Lois chuckled as she chimed in, "Ignore her. We've only been here a few minutes ago. Thankfully, it wasn't difficult to wake you up." "Looks like someone is having a PMS." She commented pertaining to Caddie. "Late for a date, to be honest. Heathe has this habit of troubling us even if we tell her that we have something important to do. Now, you can tell why Caddie is a bit upset." She shook her head in disbelief. "Let me apologize on her behalf." "Not your fault." Caddie murmured. She sighed and strode close towards them. "I think it's not necessary for both of you to fetch me. Why don't you go ahead and meet your date?" She said, particularly to Caddie, who looked at her in confusion. Then she added, "You're not late yet for your date, are you?" Caddie glanced at her wristwatch. "I actually am. Five effin' minutes." "What's the sense of you being a racer? Your date may still be there waiting for you. You know, it's better late than not showing up at all." Caddie and Lois looked at each other, meaningfully. "Go on. Lois and I will be fine." Caddie turned to her again. "But Heathe will get mad for sure." She uttered in a worried tone but her facial expression displayed excitement. "Don't worry about her. I can cover you." "We only brought one car," Lois filled in. "That won't be a problem. We can book a cab, so let Caddie use your car." "It's Heathe's car," Caddie corrected. She heavily breathed out while waving her hand dismissively. She was nearly getting frustrated because Caddie and Lois kept on raising various issues which shouldn't have been a big deal. "Oh, please, stop. Do you want to regret missing this chance to meet the one who may be yours forever? Besides, it's not okay getting stood up on a date." She thought that Caddie still didn't agree with the idea. But when Lois tossed her the keys, she quickly caught them with a grin on her face. That was the attitude she had known Caddie for. She was the happy person despite being the less talkative one compared to the other three. She could see the excitement upsurged as she bade goodbye and ran out of the house. She then realized how bossy Heathe was with her best friends and that was something they had to talk about. Because it was honestly annoying. She turned to Lois, "Do you have a date as well?" She asked to confirm. Lois put on a smug face. "I don't do dates." "You're definitely Heathe's counterpart." She chuckled while shaking her head in disbelief. "I'm just gonna get ready." "Go on. Take all your time to be more stunning and make Heathe enthralled." "Silly." She uttered before leaving Lois to prepare. AS soon as she closed the door behind her, strokes of jitter and excitement filled her system. She could sense that something special would happen tonight. She started to get ready whilst also visualizing scenarios that would possibly come about on this date. Heathe liked to throw surprises and that was the very reason why she was overthinking at the moment. What did Heathe prepare for that night? She tried to get ahold of her composure because she was obviously uneasy that she even broke a plastic hanger while taking her dress out of the closet. The way she shuffled in her movements made her laugh at herself. It wasn't like her. It was the kind of effect that Heathe was giving her even though she was not around. ~ • ~ • ~
