The sun had barely risen when Serena opened her eyes. Light bled through the curtains in warm stripes, casting golden lines across the white sheets tangled around her legs. For a second, her body still hummed with the fire from the night before, the echoes of Dominic's touch, his growl, her own ragged cries. But the moment shattered when she saw him. Dominic lay beside her, still asleep, one arm draped across his chest, the other resting loosely near her waist as if caught mid-motion. His silver eyes were shut, and the hardness he usually carried in his jaw had softened. He looked… human. Too human.
