The Delhi University canteen went dead silent.
Three hundred students. One slap. And the stunned face of Vyan Singh Rathore - the college king who never lost.
My palm burned. His cheek reddened. And his dark eyes? They promised me hell.
"What the f**k did you just do?" His voice was deadly calm. The kind of calm that comes before a storm destroys everything.
I lifted my chin, even though my knees were shaking. "What you deserved."
I am Niya Sharma. Village girl. Scholarship student. And as of ten seconds ago, officially dead.
Because nobody slaps Vyan Singh Rathore and lives to tell the tale.
He stepped closer. His expensive cologne mixed with danger. "Do you know who I am?"
"An arrogant bully who thinks he owns this college," I spat back.
His friends formed a circle around us. Neel, his right-hand man, smirked. "Bro, this one has a death wish."
Vyan tilted his head, studying me like I was an insect he was deciding how to crush. "Name."
"Niya."
"Niya," he tasted my name like poison. "You just made the biggest mistake of your pathetic little life."
He leaned in, his breath hot against my ear. Everyone held their breath.
"From this moment on, Niya Sharma," he whispered, loud enough for the front row to hear, "your life is mine. I will break you so slowly, so beautifully, that you'll beg me for mercy. And I won't give it."
He straightened up and smiled. It didn't reach his eyes.
"Welcome to hell, village girl."
The canteen erupted as he walked away. But I could still feel his eyes on me.
I had slapped the devil.
And now the devil was obsessed with destroying me.
If only I knew... destruction wasn't the only thing he had planned for me.
