My Identity

Lisa POV I woke up in Gray’s arms. The party went on until late in the night. Gray and I talked in his room trying to get to know each other. We were a little embarrassed about how we acted earlier.  I didn’t think I could feel so connected to a person other than my brother.     “Morning,” I say as I turn to stare into his eyes. “Morning.” “What do you have planned for the day?” I ask. “I have two meetings this morning.  I need to get up and get dressed, but I don’t want to leave you. I want to just lay here with you in my arms.” “I would love that too.” As much as we wanted to stay in bed, we got up and put on our clothes.  I stood admiring Gray’s tan chest. He was about to put on his shirt, when he decided to walk toward me. He took my hand and placed it on his chest.   “My heart beats for you.” He said. I blushed and kept my hand on his chest feeling his heartbeat. Then I bent down and placed a kiss where my hand just was. Gray sucked in a breath. He was trying to calm his wolf. I could feel my wolf growing excited. “We need to stop before we don’t make it out of this room.” He said breathlessly. I agreed, turning to walk into the bathroom.  Gray was completely dressed, when I emerged from the bathroom.  He went in. As we passed each other, I told him goodbye and that I would see him later. I headed to the maid quarters to change into my uniform.  I didn’t need my secret identity discovered.  “I THOUGHT YOU WERE MY FRIEND!” I heard Fatima shouting as I opened the door.. “I am your friend. What did I do to make you so upset with me?” I pleaded. “Like you don’t know.” “I don’t.” “Prince Gray.” She spat out. I began to understand.  How could I explain that he was my fated mate and I didn’t have any idea that I would meet him like this.  I never thought I would meet my mate. “Fatima, let me explain. My wolf told me he was our mate. I didn’t plan for any of this to happen.  As I told you before, I figured I would never find my mate.  The Moon Goddess planned this. Even Gray was shocked how we met. We talked all night getting to know each other.” “I was so hoping that he was my mate.” Fatima said as a single tear rolled down her cheek. I cautiously walked over to her to comfort her.   “You are young. You will find him when you least expect it.” I assured her. “I guess you’re right. Now you are going to be a princess.” She said, perking up.  I thought about that knowing that I was already a princess. I played along so as to not arouse suspicion.   “Well, I need to get my uniform on so I can get my work done.” “Lisa, you don’t have to be a maid anymore. Once you have your bonding ceremony, and Gray gives you his mark this will be a distant memory.” “I will work until that happens.” I put my uniform on and headed to the bedrooms to clean.  I cleaned Gray’s room first. I could still smell his scent in the room. I then headed to the King and Queen’s room. I knocked on the door.  I was surprised that the Queen was still in the bedroom.   “Come in Lisa.” I opened the door to see Queen Sierra sitting at her dressing table.   “I can come back later.” I said. “No, I want to talk to you.” She said. I hesitantly walked into the bedroom.  I’m always a little nervous when I clean this room and now I am really nervous.  I start straightening the bed and getting my cleaning products. “You can do that later. Have a seat on the bed. I want to talk to you.” I nervously sat down and waited for her to begin. “Lisa Cambridge.  The day you came you looked so down and out. I didn’t try to get any information on you.  I trusted John wouldn’t bring anyone dangerous to the palace. You’ve been here two weeks cleaning better than some who have been with me for years.  And it takes my son coming home for me to find out that you are Princess Lisa. So tell me your story.” “My father has arranged for me to marry Prince Collin of Edinburgh.  I ran away because I didn’t want to marry him.  I wanted to one day find my fated mate.  I didn’t think coming here was where he was going to be.” I say chuckling a little. “The Moon Goddess has a strange way for mates to meet.” “Indeed she does. So the next step is the bonding ceremony.  You need to contact your parents. I know they must be worried about you.” “After the bonding ceremony, I was taking Gray to meet my family.” “Good, I would love to meet your family.” She said, turning toward her mirror at her dressing table.  She finished putting on her makeup and stood to smooth down her outfit.  “Welcome to our family. The bonding ceremony is in two days. I will leave you to clean.”  She gracefully walked out the bedroom leaving me sitting on the bed.  I got up smiling as I cleaned the room.
