36 Service Devon walked along the pathway of a village he didn’t recognise. He walked as instructed slightly behind Healer Medcalf. He’d felt some trepidation when Jenny had told him they were going to slowly start withdrawing him from the mediation. Yet his treatment held, the compulsions and controls she’d instilled in his mind and like a comforting web over his whole body stayed in place. He grew more relieved as the days passed since he’d last had his medication and he didn’t descend into madness. He could feel the power of the Taint, yet it didn’t corrupt him anymore the way it used to.
