Determined to cultivate a calm exterior, Emma chose one of the No conversation, No calls booths located at the rear of the train for her morning journey to the CBD. Two working days remained before her transfer to the front desk; she wanted to finish module 5 by this afternoon. Then, her final day in the training office could be spent contemplating the new role and developing the strategies she would employ to gain a reputation for competence, plus total adherence to PCB regulations. She had no intention of inciting a repeat of yesterday’s offensive behaviour. At least she’d gained an insight into some of her colleagues, so would know who to avoid in future should any of them be posted alongside her.
