Luca’s pov I didn’t intend to spy on her, but when I saw her in the kitchen with flour smeared on her hands, waves of nostalgia washed over me. I dared not approach her. Her fiancé, the royal highness, was watching her bake his new favourite dessert. I inhaled a deep breath and stepped away. Staying there for a prolonged time would reveal my presence. They were lycans, and hence their sense of smell would be sharper. That day they served the cake during tea time. I fiddled with the piece they offered me with my fork, feeling nauseous. Yes, I loved its flavour, but I just couldn’t enjoy it anymore. “Don’t you like this kind of cake?” Sam’s question took me by surprise. I looked at her. She was staring at me, waiting for my answer.
