chapter 5: " THE LONG AWAITED CONNECTION"

471 Words
Three years had passed since that moment at the bus stop, yet my feelings for him never wavered. My world had shifted, I had grown, but Aditya still lingered in my heart, quietly, like a forgotten melody. I buried myself in my studies, pouring over my books, seeking solace in the comfort of education. The 12th exams came, and with them, the pressure of shaping my future. My results were good, but the achievement was hollow without him to share it with. The day after my exams came the moment I had dreamed about for years—my father handed me my first mobile phone. The weight of it felt like a symbol of change, an opening into a new world, and somehow, I knew that this phone would bring something more into my life than just simple communication. It felt like a step closer to him. With trembling hands, I created my first-ever f*******: account. The reason was simple. I had only one name on my mind—Aditya. I searched for him, every click sending a flutter through my chest, as if I were embarking on a quest I had been waiting for. Days passed, but nothing appeared. Just when I began to lose hope, it happened. On April 4th, I found him. His profile, his face. I froze, heart pounding. This was him. There was no doubt. I sent the friend request without a second thought, my pulse racing as I waited for the familiar notification. It took forever. Each minute felt like a year. But finally, the day after, it came. He accepted. My heart skipped a beat. He had accepted me. The wait, the hope, the longing—it had all led to this moment. I didn’t waste any time. I wrote to him, my fingers trembling with the weight of so many emotions. "Do you remember me?" I typed, before pausing. "I was in 9th D section, and you were in 10th C. I used to see you from far away, and I even wished you all the best once. I still remember it." The words felt like a confession, a secret shared after all this time. The response came quicker than I expected. He remembered me. He remembered that day. And for the first time, our worlds connected. We talked, and the conversation flowed easily, as if the years apart had never been. It was strange, how a small gesture, a wish of 'all the best,' could lead to this. But in that moment, it felt like everything had come full circle. The distance, the silence, the years of waiting—none of it mattered anymore. We were talking now, truly talking, and the connection we had once shared silently was now a living, breathing conversation. And this, I knew, was only the beginning.
