Rain made the roads slick, and the fog and the darkness obscured Lysandra's vision as she ran. She took a few wrong turns and had to stand in the rain for several minutes longer than she had intended, in the middle of smaller intersections, looking in circles to try and find her way. Finally she made it to the barren street that led to the penitentiary gates. The rain fell all around her, unobstructed by trees, and the gates appeared to rise higher in the partial light of the storm. No guards stood on duty outside. Lysandra took a few steps closer to the gates and beat her fist against the metal, looking up so as to appeal to the security cameras posted at the top. "Hello," she called. "Let me in.
