“La-la!” a vision in head-to-toe purple engulfs Kayla in a bear hug, lifting her off her feet. I can’t help but stare in wonderment. She’s tall and curvy, her hair, cut in a wavy bob, is the same bright purple as her dress and cat-eye glasses. Sparkly earrings glint at her ears, the long dangles of rhinestones reaching almost to her shoulders. She sets Kayla back on her feet and sweeps her eyes over me, making me feel like she’s just put me on the menu. I’m surprised to find she’s an inch or two taller than I am in her purple high heels. “And you’re Ash.” It’s not really a question, more of a statement. Before I can do anything besides nod dumbly, she wraps surprisingly strong arms around me in a friendly hug. “And you must be Smash,” I say when she steps back, grinning like an i***t. Ka
