(Isolde's POV)
"You were staring at me the whole time during that meeting."
Orion's voice was low. Deliberate.
"And now you're telling me you weren't thinking about me?"
He leaned forward, both arms braced on the table behind me, boxing me in completely. His eyes were sharp. Unblinking.
My heart slammed against my ribs.
"I wasn't," I said. "I don't- I wouldn't dare."
The words came out too fast. Too shaky.
But I knew the truth. I had been staring at him. The whole meeting. I had been watching the way his jaw moved when he talked, the way his hands rested flat on the folder in front of him. I had been completely helpless to stop it.
I would never admit that out loud.
"Nothing happened in that conference room," Orion said. "So why is your face red?"
I opened my mouth. Nothing came
