I'd only just stepped into the hallway when I heard it.
Garrett's voice, low and careful, coming through the gap in his bedroom door.
"Wait for me."
That was all he said.
Then the door opened, and he walked past me without a single glance, grabbed his keys off the counter, and left.
The front door clicked shut behind him.
I stood there for a moment, not moving.
A few minutes ago, he'd been standing right in front of me, telling me to keep a proper distance from male colleagues.
