Andrew looked at me with barely contained joy, and I forced myself not to smile. I couldn't let our bond have an effect on my decision-making. I was doing this for my children, not for me or for him.
“I will bring them back on the condition you promise to care for them as I do and protect them with your life. This is about them," I said, looking at him with all the strength I could muster.
I saw a look of pride flash across his eyes and he nodded. “Absolutely. You can all stay at the manor with me and my family."
I started shaking my head before he even finished his sentence. “I don't want to live with you. They aren't ready for that, Andrew. You are their father, but that doesn't mean you have to be their dad."
