I never liked Oalstted Krougger, even before the perg hopper shot me with a Maunhouser toxin and tried to kill Katherine when she bargained for the antidote.
The first time I met the guy, we were both after the same bounty, and I hadn’t yet learned about his horrid reputation. I was on some backwater or another—I don’t even remember which one—chasing a bounty just after Walterson had retired, leaving me running solo. I heard the sharp crack of gunshots ahead and leapt forward into the middle of an ongoing fight, diving for cover behind a low wall. A quick glance confirmed my target, Rex Javis, was on the opposite side of the square, tearing through rounds with a large, custom-made assault rifle.
