I was relying on it.
As the craft dove through the atmosphere, Maunhouser defenses activated and opened fire on the small vessel. Its light armor offered little resistance to the ground-based emplacements intended to protect the capital city from scores of fighters and bombers, to say nothing of orbital bombardment. Needless to say, I knew the assault craft wouldn’t last long.
But then, I didn’t need it to.
The ship shuddered, rocking from the extreme temperatures outside the hull as it screamed through the atmosphere just as much as from the repeated hits from the ground defenses. Finally, the armor failed.
