Lydia I was so confused. My body screamed to have him, all of him. I wanted him to bury that hard c**k that was pressed against my butt into my p***y and pound it until I came screaming his name. And then I wanted him to do it again. I needed his hands all over me… But he stopped me, pulling away from my kisses. “I have some questions too.” He looked down at me with worry. “Like what are you doing in vampire territory? And I know nothing about werewolf mating, so what do you mean that it will kill me?” Inter-species unions had been forbidden so long ago, back before the great war. The great war had almost wiped out the supernatural kind. Vampire history is that Dorian the werewolf king came to our king in a time of need. He was fighting with other small facts of the fae and was being overrun. King John was a kind and generous vampire and agreed to help him for the price of peace between the vampires and the werewolves. But King Dorian betrayed him. After the fae disputes had all been resolved, King Dorain arranged for his daughter to marry King John’s son but instead of a marriage his son was killed. War broke out between our species and it wasn’t until our current kings reign that a semblance of peace was again brokered. This time it was an agreement of you stay there, and I will stay here. Neither side acting against the other but no mingling allowed. “We were always told the bite, or mark of a mate, would kill a vampire.” Ares said. “I am not sure how we can be mates, destined to be together if I cannot mark you. And if I cannot mark you I cannot mate with you, my wolf knows you are his mate and he will take over in the moment and do it regardless of my objections.” Ares seemed as confused as I am. I knew where we needed to go, so I pulled out my phone and dialed her number. “Hey girl!” came the girly voice in the phone. “Hey. I need your help. Can you come to the old farm party barn? It is really important that you come alone.” “Sure thing b***h! Are we drinking?” she always sounded so happy with every word. “No drinking. Just need some answers only you can give.” And I hung up. I was not sure if Ares was going to like this but I had no one else that I could turn to for answers. Not like I could waltz my werewolf boyfriend into my parents house. “Who did you call?” Ares asked looking concerned. “A friend that I hope can help.” I said. “But I should explain before she gets here… that she is a witch.” I glanced up to see his reaction and was surprised to find him unfazed. “If you think that she can help, I trust you.” He said so calmly that I exhaled a breath I did not realize that I had been holding in. “I still have questions for you. And you are going to have to answer them… and I want the truth.” I said as forcefully as I could muster. Now he looked a bit panicked and cornered. But I had to know what kind of hot mess I had just attached myself to. Ares She had questions. What was I going to tell her? I had to be honest or I might lose her… but did I have to tell her everything? Maybe I could just leave out a few of the details. “What are you doing in vampire territory?” She asked directly. For someone so small she certainly was strong and confident. She looked at me with those beautiful brown eyes waiting for an answer. “I assume that you are aware of the negotiations between the vampires and the werewolves?” I waited for her confirmation, and she nodded. So I continued on, “The werewolves sent a royal with several guards to meet a vampire royal to continue these negotiations. It was decided that the next generation should be involved in these decisions. But something went wrong. There were four suvs in our envoy. We were attacked.” I looked at Lydia to see her face. She was listening, wide eyed. “Fae attacked at first. We weren’t outnumbered and had it pretty under control when the vampires came. We thought they had heard the fight and came to our aide… so our guard was down, when they attacked us. I fought hard but we were outnumbered. We made the tactical decision to scatter and run. There was only three of us left by this point. We went in separate directions. I chose to head into vampire territory hoping to keep the majority of the vamps following me.” I looked to Lydia for a reaction or a response. Her little mouth was hanging open. Those beautiful full lips were so enticing that I could not help but reach for them. But she pulled away before I could cover them with my own. “So you are a guard for the royals?!” She asked, shocked. Pushing herself off me, moving to pull her jeans back on. I was debating on how to answer when I heard the engine of a vehicle approaching quickly. I grabbed Lydia and pushed her behind me. “Someone is coming. Stay behind me. And if there are more than ten, run. I will catch up after I have taken care of them.” The vehicle came to a stop. The sound of the car door opening and closing came like thunder. I extended my claws. I would protect my mate. I would die for my little mate. She looked afraid but determined.
