Chapter 3: She Is Engaged

SOFIA
“I want to ride the rollercoaster. Could you take me there Mum?” Jackson asked, raising his hands to the rollercoaster.
I have always been afraid of heights and I don't want to embarrass myself in front of Jackson and Aiden.
“No, you can't, Jackson, you should try something else.”
He squeezed his face and folded his hands. He was sad because I didn't want him to be on the rollercoaster. Then Aiden came to the rescue.
“You don't have to be sad Champ, I will take you there and ride with you,” Aiden told him.
This brought relief to me because I hate seeing my son unhappy.
“Thank you Uncle Aiden, let's go.”
Jackson dragged Aiden with him to the place and I had to take my seat, waiting for them to be back. I brought out my phone to check the updates on social media when a young man approached me.
“Hi pretty! Can I sit with you?”
I looked up to see the person talking to me. He was a young man with a built body putting on a white t-shirt, dark blue jeans, and a black cap.
“Sure you can,” I replied to him.
“I am Ryan and you?”
“I'm Sofia,”
“Please, can I get you a drink?” he asked politely.
“No, I am fine. Thank you,”
“What are you doing here sitting alone?”
I was already getting irritated by this stranger's question and I wished Aiden and Jackson would come back on time to save me from this young man.
“I am waiting for my son and fr….,”
I did not finish replying to the young man when I heard Aiden’s masculine voice completing my words. A sign of relief gushed through me. I was glad he came on time.
“Fiance, she is waiting for us,” he told Ryan.
He held Jackson with him as he approached us. It caught me by surprise when he introduced himself as my fiance since we were just friends, but I was happy he came on time to take me away from the stranger.
“Can you kindly excuse us, Mr ? I want to take my fiancee and our son to the ice cream parlor,” he said authoritatively.
“Alright, have a nice time,” Ryan told us.
When we got there, I told Jackson to select the flavor he wanted while I spoke to Aiden.
“Why did you introduce yourself as my fiance?” I folded my hands waiting for his response.
“I only said that to keep the guy off, since I saw he was getting interested in you,” he replied honestly.
“Or were you jealous?” I asked him, looking straight into his eyes.
“What if I am? I want you and I will do everything I can to have you,”
“Mum and Uncle Aiden, I got the chocolate flavor,” Jackson interrupted our conversation.
“I love chocolate too, let's get more,” I told him.
After getting ice cream, we had more fun in the park and walked around sightseeing before going to a restaurant to eat. Aiden drove us home, and he left for his place.
At bedtime, I helped Jackson take his bath and lay him on his bed while I took my bath, put on my nightwear, and lay beside him to read his bedtime stories.
I noticed he was not happy, and he was having deep thoughts concerning something.
“Is everything okay baby? Didn't you enjoy yourself today?”
“Yes I did. I enjoyed today and I had so much fun but, ”
He looked at me contemplating whether to tell me his thoughts or not.
“Don't worry Mum, I am fine.”
“No baby, you are not. You know you can tell mummy anything that is bothering you,”
He nodded his head, then he started talking.
“I want to know about my dad,” he said.
His question caught me off guard. I don't know that he will ask about his dad very soon. I knew he would one day, but I was not prepared for the question yet.
What will I tell him? Will I tell him is dad cheated on me and I got divorced on the same day? This is a hard nut to c***k, and I am not ready to tell him what has happened yet. Since I don't want him to have a negative impression of his dad.
I smiled at my little boy. “I will tell you about your dad when the time comes, but for now, mummy wants you to take a rest.”
He looked sad that I did not answer his question, but there was nothing I could do. When he is old enough, I will let him know about what has happened, but for now, I need to keep him away from the truth.
“Okay, I will rest.”
“That's good my baby, and have a lovely rest,”
“Goodnight Mum,”
“Goodnight son,”
I gave him a peck on the cheek, switched the light off, and left his room.
I couldn't read his bedtime stories again because his question tonight got me thinking, and I am heartbroken.
I went to my room and tears started streaming from my eyes. His betrayal still hurt, and I wished it had never happened. I hugged the pillow and cried myself to sleep.
LIMA
I was in my hotel room resting when I heard a knock on the door.
I opened the door to find Ryan standing with a file in his hands.
“Did you find her? I asked in a hurry.
Ryan looked at me with a sad countenance.
“Yes I did,”
Relief flushed within me.
“But….,”
“But what, Ryan, tell me?”
“She is engaged and also has a son,”
“What did you just say,” I asked, thinking I did not hear him.
“She is engaged and also has a son,” he repeated.
Everything went silent for a while, and I was numb. I can't describe the feeling within me , but I knew I was doomed. My eyes were blurry, hot tears started streaming out.
Sofia is about to get married and she has a son. I fell to the ground because I was too weak to hold my weight.
“Are you okay sir?” I heard Ryan's worried voice.
“This is the information my men and I were able to gather about her and her fiance within a short time,” he handed over the file to me.”
I regained myself and I collected the file from him.
“This is everything we could get for now, but we will keep digging for more information,” he confidently told me.
“Thank you, Ryan, for your help.”
“I will leave now and get back to you later,” he said, and took his leave.
I can't believe she has moved on with her life after everything we shared. I knew I f*cked up, but I wasn’t expecting her to move on so soon. And Sofia having a kid also baffled me.
I opened the file and I saw a picture was attached to the document. A picture of Sofia, with a man and a boy. I immediately recognized who the man was, Aiden Wales.
Aiden Wales is the person her father wanted her to get married to instead of me, but she vehemently refused because she loved me. That made him my rival. Seeing them back together makes me jealous, but I will never give up on my love for her. They looked happy together, and I hate to admit that.
If I should guess right, the child should be over 3 years old or even 4 years old. Is Aiden the father or did she cheat on me while we were together?
I trust my wife. She would never do such . I need to find her. She is mine, and she will always be mine and no one else.

I parked the car beside the highway, waiting for my wife's car to pass. It's Monday morning and I knew she would be heading for work.
Immediately her car passed, I ignited the engine and followed closely behind. I took every route she took and never lost sight of her.
When I saw the road was free without any vehicles passing, I overtook her and blocked her car. I made sure my car was facing hers directly and she immediately stopped moving.
I’m sure she must have been panicking in her car seeing what had happened. I waited for a minute in the car, thinking she might step out to approach the person driving, but she never did, so I had to step out.
I opened the car and went out, heading towards her. Then she opened her car door and stepped out.
My wife looked astonishingly beautiful. I couldn't find words to describe her because she has become more beautiful during the past years.
She looked so shocked when she saw me. It was as though she had seen a ghost. I couldn't blame her because it had been years since she saw me.
“You! Lima!” she said in shock, not believing her eyes.
“It's me, my love, I am back for you,” I smiled at her.
