Chapter Eight Try as I might, I couldn’t seem to get Mitch alone the next morning. He’d come out for a few moments to talk something over with someone, but dash back into his office as soon as they were finished. I’d swear he was avoiding me, which didn’t help his case in my mind. But if there was one thing I was used to — and quite good at, if I did say so myself — it was dogging people until I got what I wanted. When covering slippery politicians for a living, it pays to be determined.
