Night Terror

434 Words
I woke up as soon as the words left my lips. I found myself staring at the canopy of my bed and sighed. That was a vivid dream, there’s no way the Princess would do that in real life. As spicy as she was, she was an innocent and would never be so bold. I ran my hand through my hair when I realized it was wet. Quickly I checked under my bedding realizing that it looked like I had just went swimming. No, No, No I chanted in my head. There’s no way. It’s still night time. There is no possible way. I raised my hand and smelled my finger...It smelled like I imagined in my dream. “You’ve got to be kidding me!” I yelled completely frantic. I stripped off my wet clothing and dried off quickly. I had to make sure she was ok. There’s no way, it was just a dream. I quickly dressed and ran out my door through the servant doors. I followed the twist and turns of the hallway until I reached the one to her room. I knocked on the door quickly. I would give her privacy, she is a lady. After a moment I knocked again. No answer. I cracked the door and whispered “Peach, are you there?” The door edged open a little bit revealing a maids face. “Her highness is in a bath...she woke up from a nightmare that had her shrieking.” She looked at me worriedly “She is trying to calm her nerves, poor thing was scared she was covered in sweat.” I sighed in relief. “She was here the whole night then?” I asked seeking her to confirm that the princess had been safe in her bed the whole night, ergo the night terror. “Yes, my lord, she was in her bed when I checked in on her multiple times.” “Good. Good.” I replied, sighing with relief. The maid narrowed her eyes at me with a curious expression. “I , uh, just wanted to make sure she was ok. The king left me to make sure she was ok and It has me anxiety riddlen.” I explained to the maid. She nodded her head and I said my thanks and walked down the hall back to my room, relief swept over me. It was a dream, I thought to myself. Still.... I had some questions that I would have to ask. Some things just didn’t add up. Luckily I knew just the person to go to.
