Chapter 2 Leaving

The next morning I woke up feeling as if last night was all a dream. It seemed to be to perfect and easy. Most mates, especially Alpha and Luna mates are extremely possessive and mated and marked to each other with in hours of finding each other. But that wasn’t the case with Jax, he let me go home with my family and be away from him. It felt so off to me, as if he was hiding something from me already. I kept thinking about it til bumped it my mom as I walked down the hallway to the kitchen.

“Oh, mom, I’m sorry, I didn’t see you there.” I explained to her.

“Good morning darling, and it’s okay I didn’t see you either.” She said smiling. “How did you sleep? Pretty odd you’re here and not with Jax to be honest, I expected not to see you today til later.” She said puzzled.

“Oh I slept okay.. and as for me being here, he told me I should spend as much time as possible with y’all before we leave this week. Ya know?” I said with a half smile, but it hurt he didn’t want to send our first night together.

“Uh, mom? Can I ask you something?”

“Sure hun, what’s going on?” She asked back.

“Well, it sounds stupid, but it feels like something is wrong with the mate bond between me and Jax.”

“Well what do you mean by that hun?” She said with her eyes on the stove top cooking.

“It’s just odd he sent me home willingly. He’s an Alpha mom, the most possessive werewolves, why would he let his Luna just go?” I said looking down at the floor, but before my mom could answer there was a knock at the door.

“Will you get that Alex.” She said to me knowing she couldn’t leave the stove. I nodded and went to open the door but before I even reached the door the smell of sage and cedar hit my senses and I knew who was there. Jax. His aroma alone made me sway as I slowly opened the door .

“Good morning little Luna, sleep well?” He said while smiling and handing me a small box.

“Good morning to you too, and I slept alright, what’s this?” I said with a confused look on my face.

“We’ll open it and find out.” He said excitedly.

I slowly pulled the blue bow off and lifted the box to reveal a gold ring and necklace set. I gasped at how beautiful they were, the necklace had a wolf head with sapphire eyes and the ring had a large sapphire set in the middle with diamonds cascading down the sides.

“They’re beautiful.. but this is too much, I could never except this Jax.” I said painfully, I’m a minimalist not a materialistic person.

“Please? Just this once? Here.” He said while turning me around to clasp the necklace around my neck. It hung perfectly and wasn’t heavy feeling at all while turning to face hun again.

“Perfect. It looks lovely on you.” Jax exclaimed with a large smile and his eyes shifting back and forth.

‘He’s fighting with his wolf’ Ash whispered to me. ‘That’s obvious, he must be mad at him for not staying near us last night’ I whispered back.

I finally snapped back to reality and looked back down at the ring. I sighed inwardly and slipped it on to my ring finger. It truly was beautiful.

“Who’s at the door Alex?” My mom shouted from the kitchen.

“Oh, come in, my mother is cooking breakfast, join us?” I said while stepping aside to let his large frame in through the door. He followed me to the kitchen and mom about leaped from her skin when she saw Jax walking in behind me. Dad, Soph, and Drew were already sitting down at the table and laughing at mom’s reaction.

“My Goddess, could’ve warned me Alex! Alpha Jax, please sit down.”

We enjoyed the rest of the morning with my family before he asked me to go for a run and allow our wolves to meet. We walked for a bit before reaching a pond.

“What’s your wolfs name?” I asked for the sake of Ash bugging me.

“Ryder, and yours?” He said starring at me with dark eyes.

“It’s Ash” Ash said pushing herself forward and almost growling it out.

“My.. what a lovely name.” Ryder ground out having taken over Jax.

“Shall we?” They said in unison and before I knew it there was a large black wolf with a white snout looking Down at me. Soon we had shifted too and she wasn’t your average she wolf, she was almost the size of Ryder. White all over with four black socks and a black snout. She was beautiful.

They both ran for awhile. It felt amazing running with him , but it was all over to quickly. I shifted back and got dressed behind a large tree and when I came back out Ryder still had control.

“You okay?” I asked puzzled, confused at the situation before me.

“Honestly. No. He never should’ve let you leave last night. I hounded him for it and wanted to see you for myself.” He said huskily. What on earth I thought. Ash was purring at this, cause she protested all night too.

“We’ll Ryder if it makes you feel any better Ash protested all night. I want to be with y’all more than anything as you both are my mate.” I said sweetly and almost seductively to him which seemed to satisfy him because he gave control back to Jax. We didn’t speak about it til after dinner and I still ended up staying home. It felt so off. Ryder wanted us. But Jax seemed in another world. Miles away.

The days passed and Thorn informed me that my schooling was taken care of and that Jax was attending Alpha training as soon as we got home.

‘Now that makes sense as to why he didn’t want to mate and mark us’ Ash grumbled

‘Yeah.. but now we’re going somewhere new with only one person we know to be there for us when Jax leaves’ I said sadly to her. She whimpered and retreated to the back of my mind. I had a few hours left to say my goodbyes and load my things. Guess I better get started.

After my moms and sisters long hugs and dads speech I was in the car with Thorn and Jax. The ride was silent and awkward, so I just kept my gaze outside and watched the scenery pass by. Something was wrong.. I just know it. Hours later we arrived at Silver Moon and I was in total shock when a small framed she wolf lunged at Jax and kissing him before I even exited the car.

“Excuse me. Who the H*LL are you and why are you touching MY mate?!” I said before realizing I used my beta tone. Everyone froze and turned to me as if I wasn’t there a moment ago.

“I would like to know also.” Thorn growled in his Alpha tone.

“I’m Liz, Jax’s chosen mate, Alpha.” Liz whimpered and lowered her head in submission.
